Its that time of year again! Hopefully this year the thread won't turn into an all out war like last years, but if it does..what the hey! Looks like were in tough this year pretty much a whole new team, no Crosby and no Brule. Hopefully heart and determination will see us to the medal round. I haven't had a chance to size up the rest of the world yet but Im sure Russia will have a decent team as usual. Any thoughts or predictions gang?

I don't pay enough attention to junior hockey to really have an opinion, but watching the tourney is a great, great holiday tradition. Friends in Vancouver have tix to all the games and are trying to convince me to come out for a couple of games. I wish Canada was another shoe-in for gold so I could definitely go to that game. I'd hate to commit to that game and then be forced to watch Finland vs Russia.

Definitely a great tradition, too bad we don't have a star packed lineup being its on home soil this year, I think Canada will still do well, especially with fans on their side and the smaller rink. I'd still go if I had the chance, even if Canada doesn't make it to the finals, it should be good hockey.
Aside from the Winter Olympics, the World Junior tourney is prolly my favorite sporting event -- I'm excited, even if we're not fielding a great team. From what I hear, the U.S. is favoured.

Yeah that Kessel is something else, he'll really help Washington, St.Louis or Columbus next year...Im assuming one of those three will finish last overall, and Kessel goes #1, imagine him and Ovechkin on the same line or power play?

Hey now, there's plenty of time for my Maple Leafs to make it to the basement and claim him. With all their talk of planning for next season, this would seem to be the logical move!
And the World Juniors are my favourite tournament to watch. The hockey is great; I love seeing the developing talent before their egos take over; and the Boxing Day tradition can't be beat.

I absolutely love watching the World Juniors! It's a great tournament, I watch as many games with my Dad as I can over the holidays, we both look forward to it.
Last year's tournament was awesome! Team Canada last year was probably the best team of all time in the tournament, they were simply dominant.
This year? I've heard the same things, that USA will be the favourite. Even last year Phil Kessel was superb, I can only imagine how good he'll be this year. Canada will be young, but hopefully with Brent Sutter back behind the bench he'll mold the team into an overachiever. Of course gold would be outstanding, but to get any kind of medal might be the real measure of success. Regardless, I look forward to watching the tournament this year, should be great!

Christmas tradition, watching the World Jrs at my friends place in PEI, can't wait, I also got myself 11 days off for Christmas, going home on the 24th!
Good call Darkest Canuck...the Sudbury Wolves have had a great history as of late of sending players to the tournament.
Mark my words that once Ben Pouliot puts on 35 pounds he will be a fantastic hockey player in the NHL...I think he was drafted last year but I'm too lazy to look up who took him...whoever it was, you won't be disappointed.
I'm wondering if Steve Downie might be the nephew of a famous lead singer that we all know and love???

If anything, at least are captain (Kyle Chipchura) has an awesome name! That guy just sounds like a third-line winger in the NHL. If he leads us to gold, i will consider naming my first son after him, not that lil lilbones is in the oven or anything.
