speed of sound and the new song are both really good, Coldplay aren't my thing, but they're much better than most of the other shit on radio, one of my stoner buddies swears they're on of the trippiest craziest bands ever...i have respect for them.
Hey all,
I am a first timer and just stumbled onto this thread. Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. You missed a couple I think.
1. Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
2. Johnny Cash - The Legend (seems a little overdone but hey the guy just passed away)
3.The Trews - Den of Theives (Gotta support the homegrown)
-It was good to see Robert Plant with a proper album this year.
den of thieves is a great album, and it was cool to see the trews open for robert plant in vancouver..what a great way to start an unreal night...although i'm not sure what you mean by "proper" album by plant..Dreamland was amazing as well
I think that this CD really accomplished something that plant has been missing for a while. Mighty Rearranger just seemed to compliment his voice so much more than in recent years. It didn't seem like he was "reaching" for those Zepesque super notes anymore and that he felt a little more comfortable in singing without a net like Jimmy Page behind him.

i can't really disagree with that..i've liked all of plants solo work though, but rearranger is by far his best work...did you pick up his "66 to timbuktu" 2 disc set he released a couple years back? great collection of stuff, even pre-zeppelin recordings!!
I don't have 66,
I have honeydrippers on vinyl, No Quarter,Dreamland and Mighty. I scored How the west was won and hippeponymous(<- to lazy to check spelling) for christmas so I am sorta torn right now between the 2.
"Deadwing"- Porcupine Tree
"City Of Evil" Avenged Sevenfold
"In the arms of God" COC
"joint Special Operations Task Force" General Patton vs The Xecutioners
"obsence" Dalek
"Intellegence Failure"- Buckethead and Viggo Mortensen
Robot Hive" Clutch
are the one that I listened to the most this year
My top 5...
1. HDRC - High Cost of Low Living
2. New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
3. Neil Young - Prairie Wind
4. Novillero - Aim Right for the Holes in Their Lives
5. Wallflowers - Rebel, Sweetheart
The biggest letdown for me...people have mentioned it, Weezer. I essentially paid $18 for Beverly Hills. That CD is the farthest thing from Weezer IMO. To me, like 9 of those songs sound like some emo kid down the hall at a dorm pretending to play his guitar and sing about his latest ex girlfriend. I'm a big Weezer fan, I enjoy their..um..."innocent", sound? Garage punk rock stuff, making music about the good'ol days.
And...ooh...the Strokes have a new album out...this week? Good way to kick off '06!
