I'm a National League guy, but this series will once again showcase the magic of baseball in late September / October. It's incredible.
Now I understand the distate for the "Evil Empire"; everybody likes to hate on a perennial champion, especially when it has more resources at its disposal than the competition. I'm no different, however, I have grown to relish the fact that those men in pinstripes are always standing stubbornly in the Road to Gloryland, looming like a big dark thunderhead threatening to spoil somebody's day in the sun. And here they are again, when not so long ago, reaching the postseason looked less than likely for the Boss.
As an Ohioan, even though I'm a Reds fan, my only vested interest is in seeing the Tribe snag the wildcard. So that, coupled with the fact that I actually hate the Red Sox more than the Yankees, I'll be pulling for New York to go into Fenway and make like miserable for the Chowderheads.
Okay, there's the shot over the bow, Sox fan. Now it's your turn:
Go.

Lucky stars? Okay grandma!!!
The best of both worlds for me would be the Tribe snagging the wild card and the Spankees getting shut out of the playoffs. Poor Poor Georgie Porgie having to endure the sneers of the other owners and the media for the playoffs...oh the humanity! The Tribe has done a great job this season and as an ex-Clevelander, it means alot to see Cleveland back in the playoffs since they got humiliated by the Florida Marlins in the 1997 World Series and Seattle in the 2001 Division Series. So the best thing that could happen would be Cleveland sweeping the White Sox and Boston winning at least 2 of 3 from the Spankees.

Violet,
That was a heartbreaker. So wanted the indians to win that one.

If the ChiSox really wanted to eliminate one of the Yankees/Bosox from the playoffs, all they have to do is lay down vs. the Tribe this weekend...as an added enticement to be swept, lose all three and the White Sox will get the Angels (and not the Yanks/Sox winner) in the opening round...
If Cleveland sweeps the Sox, they're in and will play the eventual East champ, which could go to a tiebreak Monday if the Red Sox take 2 of 3 as VLH suggested above...
You can bet MLB is well aware of this and will have their "integrity cops" out in full force this weekend...
From an unbiased fans' perspective, I'm pulling for the Tribe and Bosox to each win two of three this weekend, setting up two days of tiebreakers next Monday (Yanks v. Sox for the AL East title) and Tuesday (Yanks/Sox loser vs Cleveland for the Wildcard)...
That would allow for a nice seamless transition into hockey season next Wednesday... :thumb:
Fuck the Sucks and the Yank-me's...
GO RED BIRDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scratchy: GO SOX!!
Itchy: GO YANKS!!

The Indians guarantee themselves at least a tie breaker game if they take two out of three from the ChiSox. Three wins obviously guarantees a playoff spot. I hear the ChiSox will only keep their starting pitchers to 5 innings max and will rest a lot of starters. That should bode well for my Indians.
That 97 year was heart breaking. If only Fernandez would have fielded that grounder cleanly........however, Tony was the one who got both RBI's in the game for the Tribe if I remember correctly so ..........Concerning that series, how far Jaret Wright has fallen from then eh?
All Cleveland needs to do is do better than Boston this weekend in order to take the wild card spot. Even if Boston takes 2 out of 3 from the Yankees, they're tied for first in the AL East.
yeah it looked like the jays were goin to take 3 of 4 from the bo-sox
much rather see sox in there over the yankees
go tribe!!
What the hell is wrong with the Tribe? Losing two of three to the D-Rays and now the White Sox are practically laying down for them and they can't get a run. Hafner for MVP my ass. The hitters haven't been clutch all year and now they have let the team down. I hate to use the word choke but that applies to the hitters the last week or so. Hopefully the team can pick it up. If you ask me, they don't really deserve to be in the playoffs but they may squeak in. I'm just tired of Blake and Boone and their subpar play and the lack of any fundamentals. The team can't lay down a bunt for frig sakes!!!!!
6th INNING!! STILL NO RUNS!!!!! Hafner once again goes down. Hafner is the complete opposite of CLUTCH. All the Indians hitters are pathetic. CHOKING CHOKING!!!! I can't take much more of this shitty play from the Tribe. Seriously. The White Sox are playing a AAA team and the Indians are still losing.
3 more innings to prove they're not an embarassment.
These hitters should be completely ashamed of themselves. They should really be disgusted with their effort. There is NO EXCUSE for this. NO EXCUSE AT ALL. I thought they were ready for a playoff push this year. I thought they were mentally prepared. I guess not.
There is no way in hell I would sign with the Tribe next year if I was Millwood. He should have at least 17 wins this year.
F$^K the Tribe. They are a disgrace. They wonder why they don't get more fans to the Jake..... it's because of shit like this. They had the playoffs in the bag and then pull something like this. They choked last year, only a lot earlier. They waited for the last week this season to pull the typical choke job that Indians' fans are accustomed to seeing. The fans will start coming if the dickhead owner spends some money and puts a legitimate contender on the field. You can't trust the current team to contend. That's why the fans didn't fill the Jake. They thought the Tribe would do just what they have done.....CHOKE. The White Sox are practically giving them the game and they can't take it. I mean, look at the pitchers!!!!! Hernandez looks great for an inning. Then he gets pulled. This is a complete farce.
The White Sox even loaded the bases for the Indians in the 9th and what does Boone do? GIDP. Boone is a hack. A complete journeyman hack!!!!!
How many chances does A Boone need with runners on?? HE SHOULD HAVE 100 RBI's this year. Man, I didn't know he sucked this much.
