How do you Leafs fans feel about this:

TORONTO (AP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs signed unrestricted free agent Eric Lindros to a one-year contract Thursday.
The team didn't release terms of the deal but it was expected to include bonuses based on games played.

Lindros, 32, played 39 games for the New York Rangers in 2003-2004 collecting 10 goals and 22 assists with 60 penalty minutes.

The six-time All-Star won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP in 1994-95. The Toronto native has 356 career goals and 461 assists but hasn't been the same player since suffering a series of concussions.
wow, this could be a good, or potentially very bad move, only time will tell
Tough to comment until I know how much they are paying him. Anything less than $2MM is a good move (low risk, potential for high reward). Anything more than that makes me nervous. But if (yes, BIG IF) he and Allison can stay healthy, the Leafs have some pretty sweet depth down the middle. Sundin, Allison, Lindros, Stajan.

Maybe Lindros can ride shotgun with Mats, but not sure if they want him mucking around in the corners. That could be dangerous.
I call it right now, he will play maybe 10 games before Scott Stevens knocks him out cold for the last time.

O'neill will help out too!

Is Stevens even gonna play? Last I heard he was still suffering from his own concussion. And the NHLPA site shows him as being unsigned.
So Lindros, O'Neil and Allison for $4.55MM, or roughly what Nieuwendyk and Roberts got in Florida. Yeah, JFJ has no idea what he's doing.

True, I think is also a free agent, maybe the Leafs will sign him? Why not, they seem to like signing old guys.

i saw he won't make it 10 games
I say Lindros plays more games than Forsberg.

The last time Lindros sat out a season (2000/2001) he came back the next season and played 72 games and 81 games the season after that.

Yeah, he's had quite a few concussions, but six of those came between 1998-2000. I think he's had only one since then.
To address the money issue, roberts and nieuwendyk, if i recall correctly, each got 2 year deals in the realm of 4.5 million each...so that's 4.5 against the cap each year.
Lindros is getting 1/1.55 mil with the potential for bonus $ that would bring it to 2 mil
Allison is getting 1/1.5 mil with 3 mil bonus money that would count against the cap in the '06/'07 season.
To recap, the most that will go against the cap this year for the two players is 3.5 mil, and the most for '06/'07 would be 3...for a total of 6.5 mil, less than the 9 mil combined it would have taken to keep nieuwendyk and roberts, 2 older, albeit more healthy players...
So jump to your own conclusions, but I think JFJ has made pretty sound monitary decisions.

classy...what did he ever do to you???

I wouldn't classify them as healthier. In his only season in Toronto Nieuwendyk missed 18 games and had a bad back during the playoffs.

As for Roberts, in his last three seasons he played 155 games and had 104 points. Lindros played 192 games and had 158 points. It's pretty obvious to me who the more reliable (and more productive) player is.
