Seeing as it's been a while since IBE was released, if the boys were to do a fall or winter tour, they might not feel the need to overload setlists with songs off the latest release (not that I mind, love that album). Wouldn't it be cool to have a contest where fans send in a setlist through hipclub, and one local in each city is selected and given VIP treatment for that show?
Great idea but everyone will make lists of songs they will never play like Another Midnight and Highway Girl.....
All Canadian Surf Club and Werewolf....

and Blow at High D-- Wait. Nevermind.

2 tool points. HA
We all know that deep down inside the boys want to play Killing Time.
"I got kicked when I was down
And a sailor took my girl to town
Then she licked my wounds
With the sea dog's salt
I drank a half a bottle of Jack
Swore I'd never take you back
By the bottle's end
I was on that phone."

In 2003, when REM did their "In Time..Best Of" tour, they set up a song request section on their web-site. Fans going to the show could request a song before the show, and the band went through them and played 2 or 3 of the most requested songs each night.
Maybe we can convince MAv (& the Hip..) to try and set up a similar request-line next time the Hip are touring!

Yeah I remember that, I put a request in for Orange Crush in Toronto and it got played. I thought it was a cool idea.
I think if Emperor Penguin got played I would die.
Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie.
If there was such a contest right now, I'd choose Bring It All Back as many times as would be allowed under the contest rules... and then maybe one or two more after that! :thumb:

yes yes yes..bring it all back is such a good tune, and on such a great album often gets forgotten about i think....in fact i think i'll play it on-air today
Seeing as there is discussion of this in the SOTD thread, I thought I'd bump this one to discuss it here. Why don't we have our own contest. Post 20 song (leaving room for new tunes) setlists here. Give it 2 weeks, and we'll do a poll voting for the best one. It probably won't go anywhere, but it'll be fun.
I've actually thought about this alot, before these threads even started. The solution could simply be, meet up Gord S at around noon.Be there and he'll take suggestions. The immediate veto power would be there. It would probably be an "A Typical" setlist with one "playable" rarity or two thrown in the mix. Wow, that would be a dream come true.
great idea, but will never happen. Its been said earlier, there are many songs they will probably never do again, and they are all the songs people will pick,.
