A thread for all those moments in everyday life where a lyric, song title or Hip reference works its way into your normal everyday routine and makes you think of the boys. I stumble upon these at least once a week, so I figure I can't be the only one.
Today, down at the grand openning of Ottawa's annual Tulip Festival (Extra big this year since this marks the 60th anniversary of the Canadian led liberation of Holland) I overheard a woman explaining her elaborate display of roses, tulips and other flowers I'm too dumb to identify, to an admirer with: "They're much better dried than alive."
And so on and so forth...
that is awesome
one of my favourite lines
I was driving down Green Lane in Newmarket, Ontario the other day when I saw a large sign on the boulevard for a company called Fully Completely Inc. I looked them up, and they're a window/carpet cleaning company in town.
I started work today at the Theme Park.
So Far, hip references - 1
Gift Shop
Future possible references
Fireworks
and I'm sure there are others I can't think about right now because I'm tired.

Yeah, so I missed a big one, "Ferris wheel is rusted off in the distance". I havent' seen the ferris wheel because it's way in the back of the park but I bet it's a little rusty.
not exactly a song lyric or what have you but, there's nothing like feeling all tired and crabby because you worked 11 hours and then getting in your car, rolling down the windows, opening the sunroof and crankin "Fully Completely" and "ATHM".
Just a wonderful day to end a shitty day

So much for loving your new job...
But at least the Hip can take those working blues away, if only for a little while at least. :thumb:

I still love my job! I just hated having to work for 11 hours and their training system leaves something to be desired.

and after all that training,
something we could no longer contain
It's boring, I'm embarrassed
I don't endorse that, I didn't want this

hahahah I endorse Six Flags as an employer and a amusement park company Fully Completely.
... So I was at a buddy's house for a BBQ and there was a group of guys and girls outside hanging out... IVL was playing pretty loud which was great and surprising because I didn't know that the dude's house who I at was a hip fan... anyway, a big debate about the war in Iraq breaks out and it's getting kinda intense and I'm not getting too involved because I'm still eating my burger... I finish my burger and am about to pipe into the heated argument and just as I do and everyone looks at me, I pause, kinda smile and point towards the stereo just intime to hear, "War isn't for children / War is nothing's enough"

now that's a little bit of alright right there!
I was thinking the other day while watching people on the sky coaster, where the put you in a suit and crank you up 100 feet and let you 'fly' on cables "And the real wonder of the world is that we don't jump too"
I found some more theme park references in Hip music. for Example Daredevil "And now they're strapping you in.......that old equilibrium just starts to spin and spin"
I'm hoping they let me bring in music for the ride I'm running because after all, it's one of the few rides that has music!
I'm thinking Daredevil and Courage and anything else that's good spinning around music that doesn't have any swear words in it! I'm sure I'll get lots of "who is this?!" It won't be too hard to find me then! LOL
My boss, after finding out I was a hip fan, casually drops the mention that she was at the 96 detroit show later to become live between us...
she doesn't even own the album...
I feel jealous and Ill.
