i was driving at work today and was feeling a little drowsy and drifted over those rumble strips on the side of the highway just as gord sang,"driving down a corduroy road"...didnt see any shoulder high weeds however
i'm taking a canadian history course right now... today we watched an hour long video about war artists... really cool stuff... i was singing makeshift the whole time
This is just a cute testiment to the fact that even my semi-oblivious family understands the heights of my fandom. The other night I was sitting down to dinner with my mom and my step-father, when my mother remarked that she didn't want to miss The Apprentice. I told her, with plenty of trademark sarcasm, it would be tragic if she did indeed miss the season finale. My step-father countered, "or hip...maybe even tragically hip". It made me smile all the rest of the night, seeing as the only albums he owns are either Perry Como or Simon and Garfunkel (nothing against the latter...). Anyway...enough of my babble. :thumb:

Perry Como??? Confusedhock: That's right up there with owning Wayne Newton albums!
I went to PEI to pick up my new horse yesterday. Her sire, a loud-coloured Appaloosa, was in the barn and I realized he looks almost exactly like the horse in the Road Apples artwork.
I saw a firworks display last night for Victoria Day...well, I'm sure you can guess the rest.
A documentary about Rene Levesque running on TVA last week had this Daredevilesque quote from Rene's secretary about the 1980 referendum: "I told him: 'I can't imagine how you feel, but this is how I feel; you should be proud' "

They were exploding in the distance?!
I was just watching Seinfeld reruns on Fox, and it's the SuperBowl/Risk episode, and Kramer refers to Newman's strong hold in the Ukraine as pointless, a "road apple".

Thread Necromancy!

When two Canadian customers come into your store and joke about how they've just driven all the way from Kingston, Ontario to buy ink. Then after they get over the shock of meeting an American Hip fan, you shoot the shit about them for a while.

Were they heading towards The Last American Exit?
Just last night I was speaking with my girl on the phone. I asked what she was doing and she (not a hip fan but i'm converting her) said, "I'm just laying here in my hammock underneath the stars. Ahhhh...it's a beautiful life." I quickly replied, "If you don't weaken." She was purely dumbfounded by my response and even more confused when I attempted to explain my response.
You could've gone in the IAGLIYDW direction, or the Sherpa route given the hammock under the stars.

Haha! I love that episode. If I'm not mistaken, that's the same episode where Kramer passes on the Super Bowl ticket because he only watches the CFL...which of course reminds me of another episode where Kramer asks Jerry if he can borrow his VCR so he can tape Canadian parliament while he's out.
So I was in Best Buy in Girlington, and they had a huuuuge panel poster of the hip, no title just the five faces smiling away...

I had seen that photo before, its got Sinclair, Paul and Johnny in the front, and a Downie and Baker looking stoned in the back.
