Those guys were cool. They were part of the Hip's new years eve show at the ACC in '99 if I remember correctly.
I'm happy they're hitting Barrymore's, I'll have to check that out.

As you indicated, I tried to think Booker T and The MG's meets Medeski Martin and Wood, but then I realized that I have no idea what any of that means.
I take it you liked Sharkskin though.

I saw Sharkskin play at NYE 99 and they were pretty rocking. That night was a nice mix of genres with the Mahones and Sharkskin.

The Tragically Hip's Rob Baker has teamed with Craig Northey from the Odds, and the resulting Stripper's Union Local 518 -- with special guest Matthew Barker -- will play at the Mod Club. Tickets, $15, for the June 23 show go on sale Thursday and are available through Ticketmaster.

Rob Baker & Craig will be doing a promo/radio tour from June 10 to 17 and then the band will hit the road from east to west in a 9 day whirlwind from the 21st to the end of the month. Vancouver around the 13th. More info Tba.
Releases 14 Jun/05. Stripper's Union consists of Rob Baker (taking a brief summer vacation from The Tragically Hip) and Craig Northey (formerly of The Odds). This album features guest appearances from Rob's mates from The Hip: Johnny Fay, Paul Langlois and Gord Sinclair, as well as a couple of former Odds: Dough Elliot and Pat Stewart.
These 13 original tracks not only feature the musical sounds that you might expect based from Rob and Craig's musical background, but the album also incorporates elements that are reminiscent of The Wallflowers, Tom Petty and an overall musical palette that is very divers. How often do you hear a euphonium or a sousaphone in popular music?
