The new album "Healthy In Paranoid Time" Aug. 30th
I know there's lots of OLP hate in the Hipbase, but Im looking forward to it, I haven't given up on OLP yet, the last album was killer, its my OLP favorite.

You call yourself an OLP fan, and then say you don't like Clumsy?
For shame.
For shame.

I hope that this album is good and egos are in check for tour time. We shall see. I really miss the good ole days.

Believe it or not, but my high school garage band opened for OLP way back in early 1994, just after the Naveed album came out. "Birdman" had been released as the first single, but it hadn't really caught on yet. We opened for them at a bar here in Cowtown called The Factory (which closed down a few months later). We chatted with them for a while after their soundcheck and all four of them were great guys. This was a while before they were famous, so we didn't really know that much about them other than the fact that they were from Toronto and they had just released their major label debut. At the time they were just another band we were opening for. If I remember correctly, we didn't even stick around to see them play. True story!
Then a few months later, "Starseed" hit the airwaves and they became huge. I was really into them for the first couple of albums, but they lost me during "Happiness is a Fish..." Needless to say I'm not really into them anymore. It's not that I dislike them. It's just that I'm indifferent to them. And yeah, Raine's ego and drama-queen stage antics are slightly annoying.

first three albums are great, 4th was decent, Gravity is garbage, Bob Rock did even worse things to OLP than he did to Metallica...Mike Turner's absence didn't help much either, and neither did Raine's subpar / borderline cheesy lyrics.

the only OLP album i truly dislike is Happiness, just because it sounds so much like Naveed and Clumsy. Spiritual Machines was a mind boggling awesome concept album and Gravity is better than some people think. I think some OLP fans dislike Gravity because the two hit singles were way overplayed.

no, i listened to the whole album, and of the whole thing i only liked "it's all for you", that was a decent track, and i also like Chris Benoit's theme "Whatever", which is also a decent song, it's got a killer opening riff.

btw, Hapiness sounds absolutely nothing like Naveed, and is a much leaner cleaner machine than Clumsy. There is some really trippy stuff on that record. I especially like Turner's work on Hapiness.

Happiness is the only one I actually own, I think it's awesome.
As for me, I got on at Clumsy, and off by Spiritual Machines. That album just didn't appeal to me, and Gravity was even worse. The Live album rocks pretty hard, though.
