I agree with Neil that the logic just doesn't add up. And, some of the explanations seem a little far fetched for my liking. I disagree with Billy however. I think Stu is being pretty discerning here. He's just presenting what he's given, he makes no claim to fact. Definitely an interesting read though.

Allow me to say thanks for posting this...and please keep it on your site. I enjoyed the read, and I do believe that this girl did have a history with Gord, it most likely wasn't as involved as this girl has brainwashed herself into believing but I do think that there is some truth to it.

I can't help but think about the movie Almost Famous, I'm sure a number of you out there have seen it. I believe we have our very own "Penny Layne" here. and Gord Downie is her Russell Simmons of Stillwater fame.

Associating yourself with fame can be a very dangerous and psychologically traumatic game to play should things go sour. The majority of the so called Groupies, Band-Aids, Puck Bunnies (as we might be more familiar with) are already blessed with low self-esteems and feel the need to wrap themselves around anything or in this case anyone of importance. And when the relationship goes south, like it so often does, it can be very traumatic for these people leading to stories like this. Even if this story isn't true, there are a thousand stories out there that are, and probably even more sensational than this one.

Now I will retire to my lair where I will continue my undying quest to prove the existance of ghosts, aliens, and the rocky mountain sasquatch!!!

Whether he makes it out to be true or not, this says 100 times over "this goes no further than you and I" and so on and so forth. Brazle should NOT have posted personal correspondence. This is an ego trip, plain and simple...every good journalist knows when to let an "exclusive" go...the ones who don't work for the Weekly World News.

I find it to be irresponsible journalism if you just post this bull without confering with Gord. I mean asking US what we think is one thing. We're giving you what we honestly think. However, this person could be a stalker who THINKS they had songs written about them.

I wouldn't post anything like that unless I had definite proof. Otherwise, you are doing Gord and the hip a disservice by posting something like that. If it is true think of what you're doing to Gord. You are no better than the people who talk about his drug use because you are putting his personal life on display and you have no proof.

How would you like it if you became famous and then someone talked to one of your ex-lovers about the poems you have written? Or better yet, you had a stalker who CLAIMED the poems were about them?

I think you should take it down, it's taking everything you've worked for on that site and on the hipbase and destroying it.

I don't want this kind of crap on the Hipbase. This is not why I created the site.
