Gus was a poor choice..
Everytime I hear GUS it gets better and better.

I think the selections they made were good for the general public, they showed people dancing in the stands and having a great time.

Just upload the video to my site in divx from my MythTv recording( Tivo).

They really believe in the work that our organization does to hold polluters accountable for their actions, and make people aware of their fundamental right to clean water. They've been putting on a great show nightly, and we're glad they are touting such a worthy and necessary battle to win back our waterways, and strengthen our communities.

Keep up the good work. Fine organizations like yours are a real asset.
I'm not bitching about the performance at all, I thought it was pretty cool, I just sat through like an hour of football just to record them, BUT, I must say Gordie sounded like he was losing it on Courage. It wasn't singing all of a sudden, it was kinda like, just yelling or something. I can't explain it... maybe the cold? I wouldn't say he totally screwed it, it just started to sound right hoarse, like he had no lung power suddenly. And then at times he would stop and when he continued, it sounded okay, maybe he was getting too hyper or something? Anybody? I think Gus was pretty solid though...
Well, first, I thought Gord's energy level was through the roof. That matters more to me than a *polished* performance. :thumb: We saw there a band that, like U2, clearly relishes the thought of being at the Top of the Heap and vaporizing a huge audience.

Second, Gord wasn't in top voice---he wasn't entirely comfortable in the low notes on 'Gus,' for instance, and that almost surely does relate to the cold. Or maybe just to inadequate warm-up, or trying too hard, or whatever.

Third, he fooled around with the melody line on 'Courage' in a way that suggests (and assumes) deep familiarity with the song. Dylan does the same with his classics...I wouldn't read too much into it.

They kicked ass, with dementia if not polish.
i thought that with the performance of the national anthem(who was that anyway?), the boys did a nice job in bailing out the organizers..i thought they sounded good but the presence was even greater...seeing them today kinda makes seeing them in toontown last night was all a good dream
Gus was an amaaaaaaaaaaazing choice. Mostly because I think its the best song on the album...well, equal to heart of the melt...

And courage was kick ass as well.

I think their performance was 110% top notch.

But anyways, so I'm playing poker with some dudes watchin the grey cup, and some guy asks whos playing half time, when he is told its the hip he starts bad mouthing them. So I run to my car to don any hip apparel I have, like the hip hockey jersy, and my canadian flag cape (I have these things handy for this friday).....then he makes fun of me...and I make fun of his mom....

anyways...thats my hip grey cup story.

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeers.

.

oh god. you are "that guy" aren't you. you are the ass that jumps around waving his canadian flag for 2 hours. the one that most people in your section want to smack up side the head. :rambo:

yes. the Hip are Canadian. We know it and they know it. there is no need to wave your flag.

i would have made fun of you, too and i am a fan.

some people seem to think that everyone who is Canadian has to like the Hip.
GUS was gustastic and courage was courageous, or something.

Gord was out of his mind.

I'm sitting there watching with my wife who is, I am ashamed to admit it, only marginally familiar with the band and its parts. The dialogue goes as follows:

"Who's that?"
"That's Gord Downie."
"Who's that?"
"The drummer? Johnny Fay."
"Who's that guy?"
"That's Paul. Paul Langlois."
"Does he know he looks like that?"

My word,
CT
I thought the Hip kicked.

Gus is one of my favs from the new disc, and was quite a surprise to hear. I thought it was a lot heavier too, which made it rock even more.

Courage was another surprise, and a good choice. A good sing-a-long for the crowd (and the cheerleaders).

Only one complaint.....why the hell didn't they get 3 songs?!?!?!

No.

I dunno, maybe, but I can't be as bad as the girl next to me plastered out of her mind yelling the words to "My Nifty Fishing Hat"

Sure.

Thats fine, I look like someone i'd make fun of if it was for another band.

They should.

That is hilarious. so great, you should show her a pic of Paul from UTH days, she should get a kick out of that

That's disrespectful. I think I'd prefer having some ass WAVE the flag as opposed to wear the flag. If it's an emblem or printed on a shirt or something it's okay (still tacky, but ok). But taking a flag and running around with it as a cape, dragging it in mud and shit? I don't know, that's just kinda wrong dude. Not only is it a major fashion faux pas (the colours are okay, anything goes with white, but the red's a little bright for apparel and capes are so NOT ever gonna make a comeback) but it's disrespectful. You wouldn't wear a hunter-orange cowboy hat with navy-blue boots would ya? I'm calling the fashion-police.
