There have been several interesting topics about various other artists lately, so I'm interested to know, who do you wish had lived long enough for you to be able to see them live? What artists or bands do you desperately wish you had seen in their prime?
1. MUDDY WATERS (died 1983)...More than any other. No question. How I wish I'd been around during the Johnny Winter-Jimmy Cotton era of the mid 70s.
2. Hank Williams (died 1953)
3. Lightnin' Hopkins (died 1982)
4. Louis Armstrong (died 1971)
5. Harry Chapin (died 1981)
6. Leadbelly (died 1949)
BANDS:
6. CCR (broke up 1972)
7. Simon & Garfunkel (broke up 1970)
8. Dave Brubeck Quartet (broke up 1967)
9. Bob Dylan with The Hawks (before they were The Band) (parted ways 1967)
10. Derek & The Dominoes (Clapton & Allman!!!) (1970-1972)
11. The Mamas & The Papas (broke up 1968)
12. Three Dog Night (broke up 1976)
What? No Monkees?

Too many jazz musicians to name them all. Some of the best:
Miles
Trane
Bird
Billie
But number 1, Hendrix.
The one that comes to mind immediately is:
Bob Marley (died May 1981)

Allman never played with them live...
A few I would've liked to have seen in their prime...
- Jimi Hendrix Experience
- Cream
- Led Zeppelin
- Allman Brothers Band
- The Rolling Stones
- The Who
- The Doors
- Soundgarden
- Robert Johnson
- Elvis
- Frank Sinatra
That's a really good question Neil...as it forces me to put off even *more* work.
1. Jeff Buckley
2. Joy Division
3. Frank Sinatra
4. Billie Holiday
5. CSNY

This is a great question, I mean where do I start? First and foremost has to be The Doors, such an amazing band one of my all-time favorites, seeing Jim alive and rocking would be a dream come true for me. Definitely Led Zeppelin at their prime would be life-altering! I can add Elvis, CCR, AC/DC with Bonn Scott and Jimi Hendrix. In more recent times I would have liked to have seen Alice in Chains(Layne Stayley) Cool thread, something Ive always thought about :thumb: I wish I had a time machine, anybody got a flux capacitor and a delorean?

tommygunn Wrote:Robert Johnson
Jenna Bird Wrote:Billie Holiday
All great suggestions!

What a shame that you should only mention this now, you should have come to my garage sale last weekend.
Hmmm...this is just strictly as far as deaths go
Jimi...it fascinates me to think of what he would be today
Stevie Ray
Blind Melon (Shannon Hoon)
The Doors (who else...Jim)(also fascinating thinking what he would be today(for better or worse  ))
Let's see...
Jefferson Airplane
Stan Rogers
Jimi Hendrix
CCR
Stones in the 60's
The Beatles
Cream
Buffalo Springfield with Neil
Yardbirds
The Byrds
If Jim Morrison were alive today, he'd have the looks of Keith Richard and the voice of Bob Dylan
....and the size of Randy Bachman (in his LARGE days)
The Doors, Hendrix, Floyd with Waters (or Syd), The Beatles, Zepplin, Ozzy with Randy Rhoads, Blind Melon, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, The Who, Bob Marley, 2Pac, ODB.
1.Frank Sinatra
2.The Doors
3.Led Zepplin
4.Billie Holiday
5.Louis Armstrong
Jimi Hendrix. The Band of Gypsies concerts. Not that I'm picky....
And I'll join Darkest Canuck for Floyd with Syd Barrett or Roger Waters. Or Roger Waters solo, for that matter.
The Grateful Dead with Pigpen. The Grateful Dead with Jerry Garcia.
Muddy Waters. Howlin' Wolf.
