I was a geek. I'm talking band/extra cirrcular activites/teacher's kid/ smart geek.
Or at least they THOUGHT I was smart.
This is just out of sheer curiositybecause I have a theory about the fans on this forum
I was in the popular crowd, played on the basketball team, ran track, etc. But I also ran the yearbook, was the school photographer, was a peer tutor, etc... so I ended up hanging out with just about everyone.

REALLY, enjoyed high school, and did my best to continue that through university.
So, do I fit your theory about the fans on the forum?
I was a drama geek, swimmer, field hockey player, runner, and AP English nerd. I suppose you could say that I hung out with everyone, but was never fully comfortable. The "popular" kids thought I was a little bit off, but entertaining nonetheless. My closest friends were drama/English nerds, but I went to a *really* small school, so there was no escaping all the other cliques. Now, being placed in classrooms as the teacher, its strange watching the same dynamics being played out in front of me. Amusingly enough, my avatar is a photo that was taken on "high school stereotype night!". A bunch of my girlfriends and I dressed up as the various stereotypes and watched all the essential *high school* films; Heathers included. :thumb:

Just wanted to get out of there, and quick! Most of my group felt the same way. And in fact, my group was never really a "group"... some friends wouldn't be caught dead with others. A diverse and dispersed crowd...
Although, we ALL loved skipping school and doing the only three things there were to do in Georgetown: Four, Oh, and One. "let's go downtown" was the way most of my high school days ended... at 12:30pm.
I got along with everyone. Still do in fact. I hung out with everyone. I was a popular, studious, jock, metal head, stoner. I don't remember too many goths in my school, but one good girlfriend comes to mind. Of course now that I'm 35 I sound like an old dude reminiscing about how gosh darn popular he was but I really fit in with everyone.
This has been a question that has always perplexed me...The defining characteristic of my friends is they all liked sports, so in that sense they were jocks, but they didnt really populate all the sports teams...but that was the glue of the core group...but i was also friends with some of the 'popular kids', some of the 'geeks', some of the 'punks', so i clicked that i hung out with everyone...maybe i should have clicked jocks, i dunno...i cant help but feel ive ruined the integrity of this poll

You fit my theory that we're all pretty darned smart. My other theory is we didn't fit in one category. Like I hung with many different kinds of people or we were geeks that got picked on.
I hated High School, my school sucked. I was on the Hockey team, we sucked!
What, I'm the first person to admit to being a lone wolf? I hated high school. Actually I didn't hate school so much as I hated the 919 people who went there. I was involved in everything non-sports related (newspaper, yearbook, council, you name it). I was mostly chief of everything I was involved in because nobody else gave two shits about getting anything done. I am not being arrogant when I say we would not have had a yearbook my grade 12 year if I hadn't thrown out my entire staff two weeks after everything was due at the publishers and taken care of it all myself... :lol:
God DAMN I hated high school...
PS: I was actually in ONE sports related activity...the football team. First day of high school, someone came up to me and went "damn, you belong on the football team." I didn't know how to play it then and I still don't. I hated it more then than I do now. We lost six games and everybody quit.
I was a total geek in high school, and it was awesome!
The teachers loved me, I had a high average, I was a math tutor... I was even in band! And that popular clique... We had a mutual hate thing going on.
But I still loved high school!

That was me too. Had a few friends, but I wasn't interested in being in any clique. Don't talk to anyone from high school, didn't go to any of the reunions. Went to the Army, had a few friends, but don't talk to any of them today. Went to college(sorry, University), had a few friends, don't talk to any of them today. That might make me a lone wolf, I guess, but mostly I've travelled through life on my own path, have shared it sometimes, but mostly did my own thing.

Hmmmm. Sounds familiar. I played sports, but was always the smallest kid so I took a beating. I didn't like the "popular" crowd. Seemed like a bunch of clowns in love with themselves to me (funny sidenote: I ended up marrying one of the girls from the popular crowd, but we barely talked to each other in high school - lest she be seen talking to a lowly peon like I was). I had a couple of close friends but pretty much all of my spare time from Grade 10 on was spent hanging out with my then girlfriend or working (at the local grocery store). Couldn't get out of high school fast enough. University and grad school - now THOSE were the good ole days.
I kinda hung out with everyone. Mostly other military-brats. We all had known each other from other bases and postings through our grade school years and we had alot of the same life experiences. (Moving many times, millitary parents, that sort of thing.) I was a straight A student but you wouldn't know it to look at me. Listened to a lot of metal, smoked, drank. Didn't affect my GPA, though. Took mostly humanities courses and performing arts credits. Just a regular kid who fit in and didn't stand out in the crowd.
I really fit in with Jenna bird (and this should say what clique ARE you in, as I am currently enrolled in High School) and I LOVE AP English! All the intellectual humor just gets me going. People who can truly appreciate sarcasm.
I do sports; in High School I've played Soccer, Basketball, Cross Country, Tennis. My friends mostly play video games, though, I cannot deny that. Boy, we love our Halo. Used to scooter/do sports/watch movies a lot, then it moved to gaming.
I can't consider myself "popular" by the fact that I don't meet one requirement: I've never drank or smoked. But I have fun all the same, and get along with the majority of people.

I was kind of a geek, I guess. I had a tough time through most of high school... I hated my first high school, then I moved to a different city with my family. The first year and a half there was really tough, but by my last year I actually found a pretty good niche and hung out with some good people.
I played in the band in high school, plus I was on the school's trivia team (Reach for the Top, if anyone remembers that). I got good grades in high school but I didn't fit in 100% with the smart crowd because I wasn't really into science or computers too much. Still, toward the end I fit in with a few different people, so at least high school ended well, even if a lot of the earlier years was crappy.
