Huh? How is ARA not a summer tour?

Lots of shows. Outside. Cross country. Summer? Sounds like a summer tour to me.

thanks man, it's really appreciated when hip managment can listen to their fans and keep them upto date on things. i think it means a lot to members of hipbase that management reads this form and even more important that some of the hip admit to coming on line (although i do suspect they each have checked it out one time or another) If you've ever got any more info please post it, i hope it shouldn't take people bitching and complaining for managment to respond, i think people are looking for some pro-active service.

Where in that message did it say "we are touring the US only and screw Canada". Lets just wait and see what develops before we jump all over these guys.

the 1993 ARA tour had 3 shows (i honestly thought there were more) and 2 of them were in Ontario and the 3rd in Quebec.

the 1995 ARA tour saw dates in: BC, AB, MB, ON, PQ and NF. east coast was esentially left out. yeah, yeah. there were 2 shows in NF, but it is VERY expensive to travel from the mainland to Newfoundland. so, the majority of Maritimers would not have made the trip.

the 1997 ARA tour had dates in: BC, AB, SK, MB, VT, and ON. again. the east coast is left out.

there are venues out here to play, but for some reason they aren't used. July 1st weekend in 2000 the hip played to
30,000 + people in Halifax. that was the one and only time they played that venue. you are telling me they couldn't have had an ARA show there?

i hate to sound like i am always bitching, because that isn't how i want to come across. i am just tired of the east coast constantly getting the shaft.

now, i just read a post by ddd444 saying that we can look for a Canadian summer tour in 2005. i am so freaking excited to see that, but i will not get my hopes up until i see the actual dates.

i will be seriously pissed if the east coast doesn't get at least 3 shows.

LOL!!!!
macyme Wrote:i understand why they play the acc and cops and the bell centre, that's understood, what i'm saying is that they should also be touring the smaller canadian towns where people would still go see them, like quebec city, fredricton, etc. those people deserve a chance to see the hip as well.

Plus those are nicer cities to make road trips to...

Even if they did, i dont blame them, if they can do better for themselves by playing same venues in the US, all the power to them. Plus when they play lots of border towns its not like its out of reach for lots of Canadians.

It would be awesome if they did more dates in February. I was thinking that Halifax would be my last show for a while but if they're within....say 9 hours of me, I'll go again. How about it shannon......ROAD TRIP!!!!

Jamie
9 hours is NOTHING! I'm totally in! Smile How about we just follow them for ALL the dates... we'll rent a bus, quit our jobs and have a hipbase Hip tour!

You probably did attend ARA in Craven in 95, 'cause I was definitely there. It was my first Hip show in fact!
If Rounder is going to release the new album, Rounder is going to demand they do a tour in support if it... in Rounder's only market: the U.S.

The Hip might (privately) hate doing small club shows, but know that if they want their CD released in the US, they have to play them.
