I'm wondering what some Hip songs used to be called. I don't know too many, so please... add what you know!
Joe -> Goodnight Josephine
Ballroom -> You're Everywhere
Stereo -> Escape is at Hand for the Travellin' Man
akoso Wrote:The Details -> Escape is at Hand for the Travellin' Man
Actually, I believe Escape used to be called 'Stereo'
You See Details is an actual song in itself and is an outake from Road Apples or Fully I think.

My bad. I always get those two titles mixed up (I dunno why).
Remember Dancer from the Whisler set list? I wonder what song Dancer was? Maybe heart of the melt?
Saskadelphia... :lol: Not a "song" but converted nonetheless...
Bobby Orr ----> Fireworks
Nick
Gord also referred to fireworks as
"Children of the Canadian Fitness Program"
I think Win Win Win Situation was renamed 700 Foot Cieling.....
Locked in the Trunk of a Car was originally called "Dumping the Body". At least that's how Gord introduced it on Canada Day in '92 before the album was released.
The first time I saw the hip, at hershy center on the PP Tour he definately called every song something different.....
I just couldnt tell you to much about that show cause I didn't know the band that well, I just loved Save the Planet....and they played that song, so I was happy...this is my story...
I would like to know what he called Save the Planet at that show...anyone know?
Melt could be "Dancer" on the Whistler set list, but I think the song called "You" could make more sense, just for the sheer fact that Gord says the word "You" about 8 times in Melt
Win-Win and 700 ft are two different songs. I remember reading about how they were trying to get a good take on Win-Win (aka 100 Years Old) when they just started fooling around, giving birth to 700 ft.
Stay used to be called "Drake's Cakes" because it sounded like a Nick Drake song.
Stretching it a bit might be claiming that Sherpa used to be called Dante. Dante is the unnamed song from the DFN sessions that has the lines "it's at the point where we love or hate it / We can write it down or obliterate it". Yeah, I think that would be a stretch
Cheers
Pat

Yeah. Save The Planet.
He did call So Hard "Strippers Lament" though.
Is there a specific show anyone remembers of when the hip played escape as "stereo". I have a version downloaded, but the swear words are censored by an annoying scratching sound.

pretty sner they did it @ the Odeon- Cleveland 8-17-96, I haven't listened to that gig in some time but I'm sure they did something similar to that 9:30 Club version.......
