Not exactly true that it hadn't been talked about. It is true that he'll be singing though!
Do you think we'll see it on TV? I can't remember if the U.S. lets our anthem play during commercial break or not. I don't really recall ever seing the Canadian anthem at the MLB all-star game, but I could be wrong.

Both anthems are always televised. Fox has the game this year, I'll be watching the US feed to see what McCarver and Buck say about Gordie.
I know the Hip have a following in Texas, so hopefully Houston gives him a warm welcome.
The real question here is will Gordie get bilingual on us? I'd pay a few dollars to see that

I'll vote no. English lyrics in general, even to songs he wrote, seem to give him fits at times!
So I think he'll stick to the mother tongue.
Ya that's my feeling too, he does struggle with the lyrics so i cant see him getting the other official language in there; i just think it would be some kind of interesting.

Ya know, that would be a great ice breaker if anybody meets him this summer: "Alright, hot shot, but can you do it in French?"
I'm curious to see how the hell he's going to pull it off. I love his voice backed by music but how is he going to sing the anthem? He doesn't exactly have Pavarotti chops. It'll be interesting to see if he even tries to hit the high notes!
Knowing his affinity for his guitar, maybe he'll strut that out with him.
i see the recent american idol fantasia is singing the american anthem...you don't get much different than those 2...
Yeah, you gotta love these people who don't pay any dues, yet have #1 records on Billboard. funny how the music industry works. I'm sure Fantasia is going to get all the "oooooh, ya yeah yeah yeah, ooo e eooooo eee ooo's" into the song. I'm sure she's going to oversing but hey, I'm still wondering how Gord is going to do the anthem. He is one of the very last people on earth I can picture singing a national anthem. I think it's cool and I'm very curious to see it, but who hires a rock band lead singer to sing an anthem?
