When I was sixteen years old and had the privilege of a chat with Gord after their 2004 show at Harbour Station, I asked him why they didn't play 38 Years Old anymore. He said that even though it's not about him, the line 'my sister got raped' freaked him out too much.
And then they played it when I saw them two years later at the Metropolis in Montreal.

Gah!--thanks for sharing this! In an earlier version of my loooonnnng post, I wondered about whether having to sing "My sister got raped" night after night contributed to the disappearance of the song live. It's good to not have to speculate, to actually know the fact of this.
Fan/audience reaction to the song cast an uncomfortable spotlight onto his whole family, for sure.
