CBC has never said they are broadcasting the final Hip show. Last show of the tour is the wording in all press.

True, but then read the press for pretty much every town rebroadcasting the show in a town square - pretty much all leave out the "of this tour". Obviously I am not against more shows, but the broad understanding of the masses is it is the last show. I would think if there's the chance for more shows, would be in the best interest of the band management to announce that soon versus dealing with the negative PR of the general populatin "hey, I thought I watched the last show on CBC."

Exactly my point. No one from The Hip, no one from CBC has ever said this is the last show and/or last tour ever. When the announcement dropped about Gord's condition the band stated they are doing, "another tour." No mention of last tour. The media then ran away with reporting this as a fairwell tour, the last Hip shows ever and fans then believed this was it, and assumed this was it based on the average life expectancy of individuals with the same type of cancer Gord has. This was terribly irresponsible by the media to report this as a fairwell tour. Since the band is not doing any press, they've done nothing to squash this.
I agree with what others have said; they booked this tour in a fashion that if in fact this is it, the last show is in Kingston. Again, based on the potential changes in Gord's condition there's probably a lot of uncertainty about what happens next, if anything. There's no reason for them not to play more shows if they all feel up for it, it's what they love doing.
I think when you announce a tour immediately after a neurologist states the lead singer has incurable brain cancer, the assumption is that this is the final tour.
Hope it isn't and great for Gord, the band and fans if they continue, but The Hip management have nobody to blame but themselves if fans from coast to coast saw Kingston as the last show

CBC says right in the title of the article that it's their last show. Sure they throw in the "of the tour" in the first paragraph, but the title is absolutely misleading if the language was specified not to state exactly that. So when you state "the media" you might as well throw in the public broadcaster in with the rest of the lot.
I am kind of surprised this hasn't been posted earlier but there really is no reason that Kingston won't be the "final show" and a Buffalo show still happen. There are open dates between Hamilton-Toronto-London-Kingston where a Buffalo show could be do-able.

But they follow the every other day format. However there are extra days between Winnipeg and London.
Personally I don't think it'll happen.

As much as I would love this, doing Town Ballroom sounds like a ticket disaster. A big one.

This tour must be physically and emotionally draining on Gord and the band and you can see it at times during the first four shows. Plus he probably wants to get back to spending time with family. 15 shows is a lot. These shows will have taken a month away from the possibly short time he has left.
From what I've seen and heard at the shows this is basically Gord saying goodbye to us all. Kingston is it, and it wouldn't surprise me if this tour got cut short.
