Like a lot of others have said I agree that the band have likely chosen not to play any outdoor venues for very good reasons relating to Gords health. I agree 100% that allowing articles like this to go out is wrong. My first thought when I read it is that if the band were to agree... where would that end? It is clear that so many more people want to see them (with good, understandable reason) then the amount of tickets that were available for the announced shows but they have to draw a line somewhere. I think we should all feel incredibly blessed that any of these shows are happening at all. I can't describe the admiration I have for a man who in the face of something so terrible is getting back up on that stage for one last hurrah. This is to date the most special thing I have witnessed in my life and I suspect it will be hard to beat.

I think it would be nice if the show in Kingston is live cast via the CBC and communities organise outdoor events around that. I think realistically this is what people in power should be thinking about organising and allowing people coast to coast share in those very special moments together.

It would still have to be ticketed to control the size - they could just charge $0 for them...(and maybe fan club section in front of stage???)

...and then you'd have even higher demand as more than just bots fight over free things to sell at high prices.

This is a losing battle. Everyone just needs to settle down and think long and hard the next time they have the chance to see a performance that interests them. I made that mistake with George Carlin. Could've seen him in Vegas but figured "ahh, next time." Well, sometimes there isn't a next time. That's the tragic beauty of life.

It seems to me these politicians are only doing what so many "fans" are doing: grumbling & complaining & DEMANDING MORE FROM GORD. Why would anyone expect a group of city councillors to factor in that Gord is dying when so many "fans" can't be bothered to? I think the sense of entitlement is as pronounced among "us" as it is among "them".

I apologize in advance for the tone of this comment, but I'm just irked by some of the comments (not on this thread) that are so critical of the band, second-guessing the tour/tickets process & blaming the band for the scarcity & demand. Bleh.

bizarre that they're calling this a "tribute" to the band. they're giving them a gig. a tribute would be getting other artists to honour them somehow.
