I only stopped by once a week because nobody was posting. Who knew a month ago that there would be so much volume, it'd crash the site more than once?

Ive lurked here for 14 years, popping on every so often if theres a new album or tour announced. Its been good to have a place to come to see other peoples thoughts on the situation, album, tour and Gord. Being in the UK means theres not really anyone I can talk to about all this, so its been good to share.

I love that it is still here and active in the world of other social media competition that has made many other similar forums die in recent years.

I was on the alt.music.tragically-hip newsgroup (remember those?) from 1996-2007 and have been a hipbaser since then. I'm really old.

I think it was a hip trading tree that brought me here. I got a lot of good shows through that tree, not just Hip. Predated sites like dime a dozen, had to make copies and mail them around. I think most of the stuff I got is now on the free archive on this site, which is amazing. Pop on here occasionally for a comment, but have always read the shows reviews and comments on albums.

I was also on alt.music.tragically-hip in the late 1990s/early 2000s (really miss it... remember Whorella?) and was an early member of this group. But after graduating from university I visited less and less, then lost my old Hotmail address to the hackers. So, now the forum thinks I'm a newbie. But in a way, we're all newbies since it's true that this is the most Hip-focused discussion many of us have been part of in a long time. I'm happy to be around so many die-hards again, even under difficult circumstances.

It is a sad thought, however I have enjoyed seeing so many people back here to post, and a few people have PM'ed me to say hello.
I've very much enjoyed reconnecting with people and sharing Hip stories.
Keep 'em coming!

I poked around there too. As for whorella, see: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.torontomike.com/2007/02/whorella_mundanes_manic_rambli.html">http://www.torontomike.com/2007/02/whor ... ambli.html</a><!-- m -->

That's awesome - I was in my early 20s, that was the first time I drove into the states to see shows. Highlight was Irving Plaza in NYC, drove a car that overheated, had no map or plan.

It's new to see the base has picked up again but its quite unfortunate due to the circumstances.
Sean, you making me feel old as well. I was 14 when TATH came out.

I was 18... So I feel really old....remember taking a limo to the cobo hall show, 3 days before my 19th birthday..still can't believe that became live between us..the mid 90s to 2000'was a magical time to be a hip fan...I besides cobo, I was at Markham '95, both London shows in 98 that much music taped, as well as Edenfest '96, Woodstock '99, Mulcahys in Long Island 98 and 00, as well as Hamilton '99, Rochester, Buffalo and Darien Lake '00, and ARA in Barrie 97. All those shows were mind blowers. It was just pure hip nirvana. Got to meet the boys a couple times as well. It wasn't till 2004 that I got back to attending regularly...some notables include wasaga beach 04, London 04, Guelph lake, Fort York 2 and Stratford in 2006, as well as the Strombo show taping. Hit a few more since than ( Detroit '12, London 2009, Hamilton '09 tour ender, Buffalo 2007, London 07 andArtpark (Lewiston) in 'O7 I think..and as great as many of those later shows were, nothing will surpass my 95-2000 run..although Fort York 2 was pretty damn amazing...glad to say I'll be at the London show this summe, and maybe Kingston, though that ship may have sailed...so glad to see the hip base busy again. Hopefully it'll lead to even more shared recordings, etc.
