I agree, this could have been way better, like all things Hip. Everybody has a dvd now days, some bands with 1 or 2 albums have 2 or 3 dvd's. So the Hip have 1 old one Heksenketel, 1 new one Bobcageyon and 1 concert dvd that night in Toronto. They now should make a huge set with all outtakes from all 3 dvds with all the song footage and back stage antics. Then they should put out a fuckin book, like everybody else has. 25 years, you know there is more than enough for a nice big fat book. I dont understand how they market themselves so small in a country where they are the biggest and best.

For whatever reason, they never take the obvious route, and leave so much $$$ on the table: posters, official live recordings, vinyl rereleases....I'd love to hear from them, or their mgmt as to why they do this...

I think they like to stick to the collector lanes. No need to rush.

If I was incharge of The Hip merchandising you would be able to buy Hip everything, just like you can buy Rolling Stones everything.
Hip Alarm Clocks that play the intro to Escape is at Hand for the travelling man. I have it as my alarm song on my iphone and it is killer to wake up to.
Hip puzzles of all the Covers of their albums.
Hip playing cards with pictures of the band members.

Oh yea and there would be a fuckin book, a huge book that would look great on my bookshelf.

They would make an absolute killing from selling their live recordings. So many bands are doing it these days, and as usual the Hip are late to the party. I'm still baffled as to why the Live from the Vault series disappeared after only 6 releases. They've been recording every show since '95 or so. What's the point of doing that if all those shows are just going to sit in a vault collecting dust? Was the original LFTV launch a bust? Did not enough people purchase them? Who knows. I hate to use Pearl Jam as a measuring stick again, but the Hip's management needs to take a good look at how that band operates and steal a few ideas. Those guys are truly the golden standard when it comes to that stuff. And yes, I realize the Hip probably don't have the kind of cash that Pearl Jam generates, and their popularity has dwindled in recent years, but they're still the most recognizable band this country has ever produced. Not to mention they probably pull in ridiculous amounts of money when they tour. So I'm pretty sure the Hip camp can afford to throw some cool stuff together for the fans once in a while.

Yup, I hate using PJ as an example, as they are dealing with a much larger fan base, but I own well over 200 official live PJ shows, and lots of great PJ vinyl....I don't care a lot about "limited edition collectors" items, but man the hip should be getting with the "modern spirit"! Official boots, vinyl reissues and some cool posters would make me a happy hip fan!

I agree, THAT movie was PROMOTED as being great and one of the best, I felt that it fell way short of what we were told it was to be. Unlike the Hips Bobcaygeon movie with has made no attempt at saying its great, Bobcageyon is promoted as being a documentary about the single concert with interviews with fans, and we got exactly what they told us we would get.
