It's so tempting seeing as they are right across the street from each other almost. Q107 has the glass window at the Hard Rock. Just to walk by get a photo of him and Kim Mitchell would be sweet.
As it is i'm going to a movie about an hour away from the studios. It starts at 7:10. My girlfriend would have my head for that one.

That sucks. I went to CD Warehouse in Ottawa today and they hadn't received it yet. Had to support the Future Shoppe machine.

Gord Downie
I was in a paint shop in February with a friend of mine and my phone rang. It was Gord Downie’s manager asking me if we could meet about shooting his next solo project. I was pretty thrilled to get that call.
We met up the following week for coffee to talk about his CD and my ideas for the shoot. The new album was to be called “The Grand Bounce”, set for release in the spring. Gord wanted to give me the freedom to create and simply incorporate him into how I shoot my own personal work. It was a dream job for me in many ways.
When I work with an artist, I spend a lot of time listening to their music, which inspires my own ideas. I start to see images that I hope will be a visual representation of that artists’ music. I always try to work this way and it has been part of my creative process ever since being old enough to get into bars and shooting bands when I lived in Halifax.
For most of the shoot, it was just Gord and I working together with no crew and very little equipment. We would just hop in his van and travel around the city discovering locations and the whole shoot was done in just a few days.

Gord Downie - “The Grand Bounce” [Review]
Without prejudice, full-disclosure, I am arguably the biggest Gord Downie fan on the planet. In highschool, I adored a Gord Downie image to my binder as a statement admist everything Nirvana, Pearl Jam and otherwise. And I stuck with this, through my teens, well into my University years. Band after band I played in, this was the benchmark. I was compared to, in my own lyrical delivery, to that of Gord. This was the utmost of complements. And while the Hip dropped off the popular radar, they have always been, for me, an undisclosed benchmark of what great songwriting is all about.
When “Coke Machine Glow” manifested itself, I clung to it so intrinsically, I might have become wrought in everything it stood for - for fans of the Hip, it was a supreme departure, for me, it was poetry in motion. And this statement, never more true, then seeing those words brought to life on stage with someone immensely dear to me. It’s a moment you don’t forget - and his words, intrinsically brought to life on stage, become thwart into a league all of their own.
“The Grand Bend”, the third solo instalment from Gord, is perhaps the most musically poignant. Produced by another fan favourite, Chris Walla (aka, Death Cab for Cutie) Downie is suddenly thrust into my indie rock wet dream. Admittedly, I am new to this record, enjoying it in segments - the ride to work - the ride home - but it paints a rather gleeful picture of who I aspire to be as an artist. There are very few musicians/bands, who excite me in this way. Seriously, I am sitting here with my headphones adored to my ears like ear muffs in the wickedest of winter storms, taking it all in, savouring it, over a bottle of wine and cigarettes on the balcony.
On the song “Gone” Downie emphatically proclaims: “you’re gone, i’m not in her heart”, and i sit here ingesting the meaning of those words, emphatically, until he answers “oh wait, don’t answer that”. And this is the crux of those words, eloquently placed before me like some calling to do better. I have lived my life by his words … I trust their honesty as I sit out staring at the lake in Muskoka …
I would never give a Gord Downie project a poor review, on principal alone, on a lifetime of aspiration and adoration, on the mere fact that he is a national treasure, a beacon of all things Canadian, a glimmering hope of poetic fallacy.
And yet at the end of the day, we listen to music because it inspires us, it pushes us, it resonates with us. ”The Grand Bounce”, start to finish, is a miracle I am not only thankful for, I am inspired by. It is the visceral transgression between life and art, it is the light at the end of a dark tunnel, it is the girl who you wanted to love you, it is the bad day at work, it is the friend who let you down

Maybe he lives in Grand Bend? Or perhaps he wrote this after the bottle of wine and was dreaming of Grand Bend?
