Same here. They'll be in Alberta 7 times. Usually I'd go see them 7 times. This time around, once.
I'll have to admit the price took the wind out of my sails too ! Sad

I am laid off right now and likely will be for the better part of this year. ( damned world economic crisis)

Going to bust my ass trying to win some from the local radio station .... otherwise I dunno

I would see them twice, this tour Calgary & Banff.

But I desire to buy Grey Cup tickets too.
I just recently bought tickets for both the Weakerthans/Constantines tour, as well as the upcoming Wintersleep show at the U of C, so that's already set me back $100. My road trip friends have bailed on me, so my plans for taking a vacation and seeing the Hip in California this June are currently up in the air. I'm still thinking about heading down there anyway, even if I'm by myself. But I might wait and see what kind of money I'm getting back from my tax return before I make any solid plans. One thing's for sure, the ticket prices for the Canadian shows are outrageous. $90 for a band I've already seen over 30 times? Count me out. If I see the Hip at all this year, it'll be during a short vacation in the U.S. where I can see them for $30 in a small club.
I refuse to pay $90 to see The Hip. That's all there is to it.

I hear ya, I won't be going to Calgary to see them. Even if they weren't playing Banff.

But the $100.00 price is equal to the gas/food/hotel
I would spend to see them in Calgary.
I dont mind shelling out $ to see one of my favourite bands.Hell I paid $250.00 7 years ago to be front row for one of my other favs(The Who).I got a kid and another on the way, but if anything its all the more reason to get my fix of stress relief. Considering we will be getting 30 song sets at venues like Massey Hall, this is a bargain :thumb:

That's the most sanity I've heard through this whole thread. I find it interesting the response that these ticket prices are recieving on the base. Ever since I've been a member here all people have been talking about is how they "wish they'd do more 'Evening With' shows again" over and over and over. Finally they announce they're going to do an entire tour of them in medium sized sit down theatre's (awesome) and people are up in arms. Is $90 steep for a ticket? No question, however; to say "Usually I'd go see them 7 times. This time around, once." just doesn't follow. Why would 50% increase in ticket price for a show that's twice as long justify you not going to six shows that you'd usually attend. I know I'm babbling but it's confusing to me how people can wish and wish for one thing, get it (at a reasonably adjusted price) and then complain and refuse to go to the shows. whatever. :?

Some people have been there and done that, I guess. If people want to see The Hip 50000000000000 times, that's great. Some people have other priorities.
It's interesting that the average (by "average" I mean guestimating in my head after pulling a tube) ticket price listed on TM for the US shows is about 25 American; but for CAN shows, it's closer to 75 Canadian. According to Coinmill.com, as of 3/3 that's 62.06 American. I'd ask, "what gives?" but being to both 'North of' shows and 'South of' ones, I know that Canadian shows feel more "epic"!
wheres the fucking heart?

The boys are playing 5 nights at Massey and your all complaining about prices! Were talking Massey Hall people, not one bad fucking seat in the house. Were talking 5 nights, two sets each night, and a combination of brand new music and gems each night... Reverting back to the 2000 tour style with two sets is going to be fantastic.

I'm 21, and usually on the verge on being broke most of the time.
Phish is touring this June, I've already spent $600 on tickets with them. The Hip might wind up costing me even more. What do I say to all of this! THANK FUCKING GOD! A month of Hip in May/Sept followed by a month of Phish in June, I'll max my credit card out for that shit any day... Find a way to get the cash together, it will be worth it... Money come and go, this recession wont last forever, memories of these shows will (unless of course I get way too wasted but I doubt that will happen). Not everyday we get to see our favorite bands play multi night shows at intimate venues with great sound.

Oh yah... I hope none of you actually are persuaded by this post, because after all, you all buy less tickets that means more tickets for me...

Good luck tomorrow.
Yeah, these kinds of prices and the kinds of charges ticketmaster has these days is one thing. It's bad enough just having to get together that kind of money, but to have to get it all together on less than a day's notice?

Give me a break! Sometimes I carry a small visa balance which I would have cleared up a bit if I had some notice on the tour. Or I could have transferred some money around or put some cash aside if I just had some god damned notice on the tour!

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!

It has nothing to do with "epic" and everything to do with economics. They know Canadians will pay higher prices, so they charge them. That's all.

It's a bonus track available exclusively from Best Buy.
I'm not saying The Hip aren't worth it .... not at all !

I fkn LOVE the Hip !!

It is just that my current situation makes it dificult ... and that ain't blowin at high dough !

I have worked sporadically off an on in 2008 and 2009 is not looking much better. Unfortunately I've got a spawn in college and 2 in high school $$$$$$$$
mortgage, taxes, food etc ... all on the "dole"

The HIP are worth TWICE the price it's just a frekin bad time for me right now ... thats all
I still don't see any ticket prices yet. Does anyone know where I can see the price??

It wouldn't surprise me if they were that expensive, it seems I being priced out of a lot of shows. The Dead, Springsteen, and now the Hip (if these prices are confirmed) are all $100 a ticket :nooooo . I normally hit a few shows for each of these bands, now maybe 1 show each......this sucks.
