It was reported on the radio this morning Das Hip will be playing the Ottawa Bluesfest this summer. Also, something about pre-sales tomorrow.
I've been waiting for the lineup for the bluesfest since january. I never even considered the Hip, but i suppose it makes sense. I'm so broke and jobless right now that it looks as though I'll be sitting this one out.
I've been returning to the Ottawa Bluesfest home page nearly every day since January too. I had a pretty good feeling they would be doing Bluesfest this year for two reasons:

1. They have not played it since 2004, 4 years is a long time runnin' and
2. Given that they announced they were doing a few outdoor summer gigs this year, it only made sense to pass through Ottawa.

Andre, I hope you're right!!!
Man, that sucks for me. The only time I'll be gone all summer is from the 2nd to the 15th while I'm in Europe for work.
Chez 106 here in Ottawa confirmed that the hip will be part of bluesfest this morning on their show...
Thursday, July 3rd.
Based on an article in the Ottawa Sun this morning, it looks like Gord will be doing some reading on stage.

In addition, he’s also added a new electric/eclectic series of experimental music and avant-garde talent, and a reading series featuring rock star authors Dave Bidini, formerly from The Rheostatics, and Gord Downey, of The Tragically Hip.

Pre-sale information for anyone registered at thehip.com is up on their site: http://www.thehip.com
wow -- pre-sale reserved seats for the main stage acts is $125/seat, where a complete 11-day pass is in the range of $180.

I did not go to the fest last year in its new location, are the gold circle seats worth the $$?
Is there anything cooler than The Hip's setlists during summer / non-album supporting tours?
I'm jealous of you all!

This date may bode well for the July 4th / Quebec City rumour.
If you dont need to sit down, dont spend the cash on the gold circle. Its not infront of the stage, rather off to the side. Gold circle is not worth the loot at all IMO unless you want to sit, but i wouldnt know. I bought my parents some for steve miller last year, they enjoyed it because it was spacious and they could sit the whole show, but dont buy them and plan to party hard in there...
Did anybody look at the other acts?! sounds like a good show regardless of the Hip, ya I said it. I can't get the actuall homepage for the bluesfest to work for me but thehip.com says James Taylor, Feist, Steely Dan, BRIAN FREAKIN' WILSON(!), Black Crowes, Sam Roberts Band, Kathleen Edwards, Matt Good, Great Big Sea etc. 180 bucks for a transferable pass ain't too bad. I may be too broke to go though, or for that matter everyone i know may be too broke to come with me.
