For me, HBO has a lock on best shows of all time..Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Carnivale...
All In The Family for its groundbreaking storylines....
The Simpsons from seasons 3-8 were the best thing going...
As for single episodes..
The series finale of Six Feet Under was exactly how a series should end...in fact the last 3 episodes of the series were painfully brilliant...
The last (sadly) episode of Deadwood was perhaps the most tense-filled hour of TV i've ever witnessed, with the 2nd season finale of Carnivale a close 2nd..

My favourite shows of all time were two Judd Aptow casualties, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Alot of the same actors were in both series'
Also, Seinfeld has to be mentioned in this discussion. My favourite current show without question is the Office.

Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared were unappreciated masterpieces. Another of my favorites, Arrested Development has to be thrown in that category as well, quite possibly the funniest show ever on TV :thumb:
the west wing, any episode from the first two seasons, especially the last two episodes of season two are as good as tv gets
