Check this out. I was reading a magazine at Canadian Tire the other day and they had an article. This guy has been walking for 7 years! I personally think he is nuts, but thats just me.

Donate if you can, I am sure he needs it. He is going to try and cross the Bearing Strait in March, 2005.

Wow, that is simply nuts. I saw there was some guy who went across Australia on an old fashion bike and thought that was tough. But this takes the cake.

Updates stopped in May because he made it to the tip of Alaska, and needs the Bering Strait to freeze before he continues walking. (And he needs more money.)

We apologise for not updating the Expedition's progress for a while. At present Karl is still in Fairbanks, Alaska. His intention is to move westwards to Cape Prince of Wales as soon as winter starts to descend. Using the frozen rivers for a good portion of the journey, Karl will be pulling a sledge for this phrase as opposed to 'The Beast'. He hopes to make it to the small settlement of Wales by early January. For the past few months Karl has been training vigorously with lots of gym work, running and can be seen around the Fairbanks area towing a number of tyres in preparation. He is also giving lectures on the Expedition at a number of places. There is a lot of work to do organising and building up equipment and supplies he will need to cross Alaska and then the Bering Straits. Karl will attempt a crossing of the Straits in March 05.

I don't think he's nuts at all. One time two friends and I walked from Bar Harbour, Maine to Erie, Pennsylvania, worked like crazy all winter to save up and get in killer shape and took two months to do it in the summer. Best time of my life. Not sure I would want to walk across the Prairies or Siberia, but I say good for him! I wish him safe travels...can't wait to read the book!
