The Weakest Link - EP - Round 2
#1

Here we go with Round 2!

Eliminated in Round 1:
I'm a Werewolf, Baby
All Canadian Surf Club
Evelyn

Again, choose the song you think is the weakest on the album from those remaining. After 48 hours, the two songs with the most votes will be eliminated and we'll do round three.

Also, forgot to post a threshold for removal - in order for a song to be removed, it must receive at least 10% of the total votes in a round.

Happy voting!

Note - voting will end Tuesday at 7:31 Eastern.

This one is much tougher for me; I think that Small Town, Last American Exit and Highway Girl are all decent songs and while formulaic, are catchy and decently well done.

Killing Time I've always enjoyed as a blues tune, especially nice as a tie in to the many blues covers that are scattered throughout early boots.

Cemetery Sideroad I think is a great glimpse into what was going to come in some of the big rockers, especially the intro.

Having said all that, I guess I'm going to go with Killing Time.

If it wasn't for the live version then this would just be another throw-away song also.

I voted Last American Exit. Funny to see how I am in a clear minority with that opinion.

Love me some Killing Time! :music :music

I tend to think that no song in the Hip catalogue is over-rated, but if I had to pick one, it's Highway Girl (Courage might be second). It's a good song whose status has seemingly been elevated to greatness by the "Double Suicide" version. On the EP, it's fairly unremarkable. Live, that's probably a different story. I'm still surprised that it made the Yer Favs collection, unless they felt one EP song HAD to be included on the album, in which case I would have picked Smalltown.

Somebody plz mod me. Disparaging Courage should be a banable offence. Furthermore, disliking anything that I like should send some type of electric shock through the keyboard. Bonner is there a BBCode for that?

Send me a list of what you like so I can better align my tastes with yours and avoid future scorn, wrath and punishment Smile I don't dislike Courage... it's just that in a live environment it often doesn't hold up and also the fact that there are 8-9 better songs on FC. It gets more love than it deserves.

I choose to believe you've simply heard it too much. It's a great song. In my top three with Gus & Escape.

Interesting top three. You may be right on the over-played aspect. It's like Cochise mentioned in the UTH thread when discussing NOIS... you need to listen to it with fresh ears to recognize (or re-recognize, as it is) the greatness that was there the first fifty times you heard it.
