Would love for some more full shows from the mid-90s to surface. The fall 1992 tour for FC always intrigued me as there are hardly any setlists even documented from that tour. Peak live Hip I think is between 1992-2000 (mix of catalogue, setlists and performances).

Just watched some of that Hamilton show, and it's fantastic. They really were the best live band on the planet at that time. I too would love to see more shows surface from '95-'00. No doubt the Hip have mountains of great live material sitting in their vaults. Hopefully they'll eventually release some of that stuff.

I saw them 6 days prior to the Hamilton show in Saint John. I've never seen any video footage of that 1995 tour so the Hamilton show footage was great for re-kindling some memories of what things looked (and sounded like back then). This tour represents the peak of the band for me (although I could go along with the Henhouse tour sharing that title). Gord has never sounded better and he was at his spastic best on stage that tour. And the band... wow. Ferocious! One other thing I noted was the fervor of the audience response. Just listen to that cheer after Grace, Too. With the exception of this past summer when there were many different reasons for cheering, I doubt the band has ever been as well received and loved as they were on that tour.

I saw them in Calgary on that tour, and then again that summer on the '95 ARA tour. Those shows have a permanent place in my memory as two of the greatest concert experiences of my life. That was Hip mania at it's absolute peak, and the crowds were insane. I think the Phantom Power tour was just as good though ('98/99). I was lucky enough to see them 4 times on that tour and every show was mind-blowing. Particularly the show I saw in San Francisco in October '98 at a tiny festival just outside the city. It was my first cross-border Hip trip. Maybe 500 people there, tops. For a guy who had only seen them in large arenas or massive outdoor festivals, it was an incredibly surreal experience.

OMG, that Hamilton show!! I am so happy to see it resurface. It was the first bootleg I ever obtained. And the only one I got without the use of the internet, VHS copy landed in my hands from a friend, who got it from a friend, who didn't know where it came from. I felt I had obtained the holy grail at the time.

Does anyone has this show in an audio only format?

sean.bonner Wrote:So The Hip once made an album called Music@Work, and they once toured for it.

On that tour, they played the Filmore in San Francisco, and there was evidence that it was filmed pro-shot style.

And some over-attached die hard always wanted more of that footage released, cuz there was only like, one video online from it ... (Membership me thinks...)|

Looks like somebody finally found the rest...

Wow, that's great -- thanks! I'd love a from the vault release of this tour, so this is the next best (or the same) thing.

Here's one that's been online since the summer, but just discovered thanks to the good old Facebook group.

It's posted as being from June 30, 1989 - a quick Hipbase search seems to suggest this is the date, as there was a thread that asked if anyone saw them at the Festival of Friends (or whatever) in Fort Erie in 1989. Being a sucker for old Hip, I start to give this a listen. This is an awfully raucous crowd,I think.Especially when you consider they played to peanuts in London the next day.

Here's the thing: this show is actually from 1990. Two big tells give it away. The first is during Trickle Down. GD dedicates the song to Denis Savard, followed up with the quip, "Welcome to Montreal." Savard was traded to Montreal from Chicago on June 29, 1990 for Chris Chellios. The second is when Gord reveals to the crowd at the end of Boots and Hearts that he's going to light his boots on fire the next night. That would be the infamous Canada Day show at Molson Park.

Then, you consider some of the songs. Crack My Spine Like A Whip, Cordelia, Fight... Anyway, this could be old news. A quick search didn't seem to indicate that was the case though.

Any other live Hip mysteries out there? I have a few days off work.

^ Impressive sleuthing.

Of course they received 700 fewer "likes" and 1/10th comments of a closeup photo of Gord's face, so I thought I'd share them here where I know they will be appreciated :music

Check out the NOIS around 26 minutes in, early ABAC lyrics make an appearance. There are a number of 95 shows were ABAC lyrics start to appear, does anyone know the first instance?

Man, so much amazing Hip stuff uploaded just in the last couple of months. Here's a good one that I was actually in attendance for. Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington (near Seattle). Excellent show in a beautiful outdoor setting. I drove down from Calgary by myself on a whim and ended up running into a dude I went to college with who had driven down from Vancouver with some friends, and we had a terrific time. Incredible performance by the band with a very animated and talkative Gord. Awesome setlist as well:

Lake Fever
The Drop-Off
Bobcaygeon
Nautical Disaster
In View
The Dire Wolf
World Container
Fireworks
New Orleans Is Sinking
