Going with my previous suggestion -- I think a number of the top songs (the Top Four or Top Eight) should be retired for the next competition, as should the subsequent Top Four or Top Eight. Then, when sixteen or thirty-two of these retirees were collected they could square off in an Olympic-style tournament every couple years.
But now I'm repeating myself, so I'll stop.
The whole Hip 64 was great fun and it made me visit the site a thousand times a day instead of 500 times a day.

I really enjoyed the Hip 64 (I think I felt especially close to it because of the chart as well). I was genuinely excited and stressed by some of the Match ups! It was a great idea, and I hope it happens again.

Any new suggestions for next year's tourney? Did you enjoy this year's competition? Should we continue the tournament next year? What are your opinions?

Yes continue it.
No weekends.
No tournament when I am on vacation for a week like this year.
Thanks for doing this.

Suggestion #1 - Do everything exactly the same. It was awesome!
Suggestion #2 - This year's champ vs. Nautical Disaster in a week-long show down!!!

Maybe a separate tournament for B-Sides and rarities? I would love to see songs like Radio Show and Blonde Solid go at it!

Great job Shane! Once again it was very well done. Not sure I would change anything.
It was interesting reading everyone's comments about individual songs and matchups. Other than a few upsets, I agreed with the outcome on about 90% of the matchups.
Let's do it again next year.

Thanks for participating in the tournament again this year. It was great to see some new Hipbase members jump in on the tournament discussion and post their opinions! Please leave any comments, criticisms, and questions so that I can further improve the tournament for 2010! The tournament has successfully completed 3 years of tough music decisions. :thumb:

Next year we should do double headers in the first round, so that it doesn't drag on quite as long.
Don't get me wrong, I love voting, but over the past couple weeks, I lost interest in the tournament and hardly voted until the final four.

Thanks for everything!!! My wife and I are newbies to Hipbase and are having fun with all things Hipbase!
The contest is great, and I think the format that you use keeps the songs fresh and as unbiased as possible. I am finding that the biggest problem with it is the low turnout. In a good round you can have 60 - 70 voters, but that still isn't enough for a good sample of people. I'm not sure how to increase votes, but having upwards of 100 per round would certainly provide a better sample of the fans' likes and dislikes. Another minor problem is how long it took from womb to tomb. Someone mentioned doubling up the first few rounds which would make it go a lot faster.
Keep up the great work!!! My wife (Hipster1965) and I will certainly be around for next year's contest!
