With the release of the Stripper's Union album, I've decided to rediscover the Odds again. When I got up this morning I threw on Good Weird Feeling, which I haven't listened to in probably 6 or 7 years. I almost forgot how cool that disc is. "Truth Untold" is one of the best album openers ever.

Since I started this thread, I figured I'd bring it back again. All day today I was listening to The Watchmen's "Silent Radar" album for the first time in quite a while. What an amazing record! Probably the best thing they ever released. They were always one of my favorite bands of the 90s. I must have seen them live at least 15 times during their hey-day. I also managed to make it out to their farewell show in Calgary a couple years ago. What a great show that was. 2 1/2 hours of pure Canadian rock n' roll bliss.
It's a shame they called it quits, but with the nasty reaction to their "Slowmotion" album, I can understand why they called it a day. I was always hoping they'd record at least one more album, but what can you do. It was just the wrong time for them to put out an electronica record. U2, Radiohead, the Tea Party, and a few other bands had already been there and done that. By the time the Watchmen released "Slowmotion", many bands who had dabbled in electronica and dance music had already begun to shift things back to a more basic rock sound. Danny and the boys were just a little behind the times on that one and unfortunately it didn't catch on with the fans...especially the old-school Watchmen freaks like myself who were weaned on their unique brand of kick ass alt-rock. Don't get me wrong, I had no problem with them trying different things. "Brand New Day" was a big departure for them stylistically, and I thought that was great record. But for me, the whole electronica thing just didn't fit them very well.
I'd love to see them do a reunion tour in a couple of years and maybe put out a disc of b-sides/outtakes, or maybe some live material. I'm sure they must have recorded some of their gigs over the years. Man, those boys knew how to rock a crowd. I remember the mosh pits at their shows were fairly rough, especially if you were up at the front. In the early days, Danny used to dive into the crowd and things would just get crazy. Good times!

I have not been into Oasis at all since high school. A couple days back though, I popped (What's The Story) Morning Glory? into the old CD player and had to listen all the way through. While others would argue for Be Here Now or Definitely Maybe, I say this is their best effort. Champagne Supernova is such an excellent song.

The White Stripes- De Stijl, rocking album, I listened to the whole thing on my iPod today at work. And at home I listened to the Doughboys 1993 "crush" album yesterday, that was a cool album...what the hell happened to them anyway? :?
