Yup same set , I feel really bad for those that took in both shows. Be interesting to see if they use the same set for a 3rd time tomorrow.

Best songs from Hip set are were Drip and the other new one in the encore. Deathcab was great. $13 pitchers of good beer at Moffat Inn in NOTL pre show were great. Parking rules said no tailgating, there was tailgating (thank you for the LCBO and lots of ice)...would have been nice to know in advance.
Gord solo tune (Canada Geese) with Rural Alberta Crossing, pricelessSmile Question: Why do Canadiens LOVE to stand in lines? (and YES, you do.)

I'll be very surprised if they play the same set tonight after selling oro and notl as a package show.

Let me comment on how awesome The Rural Alberta Advantage were. Amazing set. I met them after their show. Got a setlist from them. Talked with Nils for a bit. Great people. Here's their setlist:

Under the Knife
Rush Apart
Tornado '87
Edmonton
Frank, AB
In the Summertime
Drain the Blood
Dethbridge in Lethbridge
Canada Geese (joined by Gord Downie)
Stamp (also with GD)

Yeah, nothing too exciting last night, but i still enjoyed it. For the 2011 summer shows, and last night (and i'm sure tonight too) i found that Gord doesn't really engage much with the crowd (not like what he did in 2009 - he really "performed" on that tour). Okay, maybe he exchanged with the idiot hockey horn guy last night. I heard this guy during the encore, and yes, it was annoying.

Loved live At Transformation. But Streets Ahead and Man Machine Poem do absolutely nothing for me. But i'll reserve my final opinion until i hear the album cuts! Really liked the new one in the encore - that was the only one i hadn't heard during last summer's tour.

Loved Robbie's little solo set in Grace too.

I'm going tonight too, and yes, i guess i'm in for the same set. I just wish the others would cheer more than for just ABAC and Bobcaygeon. And In View! WTF?!

They didn't play Streets Ahead, they played another new one. Phone died pretty quickly.... Sorry to those I was supposed to contact. Tiring day... Just waking up on the campground now. There weren't many cabs around... That wait was frustrating... But serves us right for assuming there would cabs in the middle of niagara on the lake. Energy was high, show was epic. A night I'll never forget. Even though it was a great time, I have never had to battle so hard for a Hip show.

I really hope they're using these summer shows to knock the rust off before their album tour. If they play in Syracuse again i want to hear something unexpected. Love the hip but come on guys!

Just want to add to my last post. Yes drunk frat dudes suck. Yes no beer sucks. Canadians do like lines for some reason. Yes the promoters grab cash like no tomorrow w VIP bullshit. Yes they played the same set and gords improvised banter was nearly identical. But thru all the bitching I saw 2 shows in 3 days and I woke up smiling an satisfied. Guess I'm just a fan. Cheers I'm on the road to burls creek... Anyone there

If the set list is similar tonight it is really like two nights in a row if you think about it. The Brockville show back in '08 was a warm up for the Kingston show. The J-Triggs show was a warm up for last night. The tour following the next CD release will be the tell all. I think all will be fine.

Sean is a Hip veteran and it was stated he never worked so hard for a show. These outdoor festival shows are ridiculous. I can't do them anymore. Back in '77 (when these type of shows were the norm) yes but not now. The only saving grace would be a solid VIP section but it seems no one can get that correct (it is not that hard).

I normally don't do outdoor shows anymore and skipped last year but had to do this one since it was so close...VIP was supposed to be better but from what I heard about last years this was just as shit...Hip were great I was also at JTs and set list was almost the same except for a couple songs...still had a blast but for me unless they come back to somewhere like JTs my outdoor days are officially over!

want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

New songs were great. Predictable set list. Waited nearly 2 hours to get on a bus just to head back to Niagara College where our other bus was waiting for us. Awesome performance but it'll definitley be my last 'festival' show.
