The Kids (Really) Don't Get It...
#1

Some local morons took it upon themselves to smash up my car last night for no other reason than they were drunk! :x

To make matters worse, the starter motor packed up the other day, and I'm currently trying to sell it. It was supposed to be fixed last night, but luckily the guy couldn't make it - it's not worth doing now, as all the repairs will come to far more than I could hope to sell it for. I'm so p***ed off!! Why the hell do these idiots think they have the right to just go round smashing up other people's property?!

Sorry for the rant...

You have every right, continue ranting if you feel it necessary, I won't stop you. That's bullshit. Some people just have no respect.

Although I don't know exactly how you feel (knock on wood), I know quite a few people who have had similar things happen to their vehicle, or have had their car stolen for joy rides, etc. WTF drives people to do this kind of crap?

Happened to me this summer...it sucks and it's frustrating. What is the point?? No, honestly, what's the point of smashing somebody's car for the hell of it?! It's rude, disrespectful, and unfourtunately, the wrong ppl always gotta pay for it.
Guess they had nothing better to do.

Yikes... that sucks Ben.

I've had my car and home broken into, and a car window smashed; it's never a good experience.

But you should commend them for their ability to move your steering wheel to the wrong side.

I thought it was all smoke and mostly mirrors... Confusedcratch:

Thanks guys, I needed to get that off my chest. I agree that I just can't see any reason for it at all!

It was until one of the mirrors got smashed off...

That sucks Zenith. I think the law should allow for a thorough ass-whooping of such a 'perp' at the hand of the the 'vic' if and when he is caught and convicted.

Some crackhead once used a 2-foot x 2-foot concrete paving stone to shatter the driver-side window of my Mustang, causing extensive damage to the moulding over the door, the door itself, and the roof of the vehicle in the process.

The thief stole a "Sanyo" portable CD player, which had a retail value of about $30.

The damage to my vehicle exceeded $3,200.

Damn, that sucks. What a bunch of douchebags. This reminds me of the time I had both front tires stolen off my car. The morons also broke in and stole the floormats, if you can believe that. The funny thing is I had about 30 CDs sitting on the passenger seat, as well as my CD player. And what do they steal? The floormats. It was incredibly bizarre.

Sorry dude, that totally sucks! Are you allowed to drive it in that condition? In the States that would be considered a "slightly used" car. If it were me I would cover the whole thing in Beatles stamps and call it an "art car".

Ben... do you know where they live... I'm free on Thursday I'll pop up and we'll belittle them with our superior vocabulary and musical knowledge.

That'll show them who's the superior person!

I have thought about this, and I think it is a direct result of a basic degeneration of respect for the community.
Some people blame the rise of the consumer lead nations we live in, the importance of capitalism, and certainly in this country, a throwback to Thacherism (Does the US blame Regan?)

Personally I blame it all on littering..

Seriously, if someone is unable to havee enough respect in their local environment that they can't be bothered to put a sweet wrapper in their pocket to take home for the bin, then it is the thin edge of the wedge.

I have a very simple solution to this.

Shoot them.

Do a massive national information campaign, with TV, Radio, Bus, Train Paper and bill board ads etc, all advising people that as of a certain date anyone seen littering would be shot.
Come the day, somebody drops a generic caffineated soft drink can, bullet to the forehead.
Obviously there would be a massive outcry from the papers and the public, but the government would just say 'Well we did warn you, didn't we!'
By the second litterbug who won't be throwing a crisp (chip) packet on the ground again, the public will realise that this is serious.
It will also plant a seed of wonder in the back of their mind about the fact that if they are willing to shoot someone for dropping litter, what the feck would they do if you jumped on a car and knocked the wingmirror off...

So come on then people, who's with me???

D
(this is the little speech that usually has my wife wandering off shaking her head after gently taking the coffe mug out of my hand)

Still picking up the elderly from the floor, still dealing with the drunks, now wrestling seals and posting it on twitter.. @richardilderton

I'm with you. As long as we can also shoot people on cell phones while driving.

Nah. Cut their goolies off.

I had my van broken into in Toronto for the sake of about $1.50 in change out of the change tray. The thief, lacking an appreciation for the finer things in life, left the $500 fly rod behind.

But I can respect that thief more than the vandals who trashed yer car, Zenith. At least the thief did it for a reason.

(Uh, yes. I drive a minivan. But I have three puppies. )

That's awful! That's what makes it even more annoying/insulting is that the victims have to foot the bill for others mindlessness.

Sounds good. Don't they have very scrict punishments for litter and things in places like Singapore?

chris Wrote:I'm with you. As long as we can also shoot people on cell phones while driving.

Definitely. Especially when they cut you up (due to the fact the aren't concerntrating) and make out like it's your fault.

Yeah, that's true. Part of me wishes they had have broken in - at least then I could have claimed on insurance.
