Good Luck....from a guy from Western Canada. My job brings me to Columbus 3-4 times a year and I'm always amazed at the passion that they have for that team. It's always a good time on the campus!!!

7.5 point favourites are the Buckeyes....should I take them to cover Esthete??? I don't follow NCAA Football as closely as I probably should have but I do know how good OSU is...my only question is will Florida make a game out of it?

It's really tough to say, RG.

If OSU ends up on the plus-side of the turnover battle, there's no good reason to think they will not cover. And to that point, OSU under Jim Tressel is a team that characteristically stays on the plus-side of the turnover column. Looking at just this season, OSU has gained 27 turnovers and has lost 16. Florida, on the other hand, has gained 27 and lost 24. The difference is interceptions - Chris Leak threw 13 picks, while Troy Smith threw only 5.

I think the two defenses are very comparable, but I do think OSU has more reliable offensive weaponry. And Troy Smith is 10 times the QB that either Leak or Tebow is.

My guess is that it stays pretty close until late in the 3rd quarter, when OSU widens the lead to two scores. I predict an OSU wins by 2 TD.

But remember, that guess is laced with Buckeye Bias....

Gotta hand it to Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators. They played an impeccable game, and Chris Leak played how I expected Troy Smith to play, and vise-versa.

i never noticed how long of a break there is between the bowl games and the teams last game before the bowl game. 51 days for osu? thats crazy. can you imagine having the stanley cup final being played after both teams have been sitting for close to 2 months. it just doesnt make sense to me

I agree, it is crazy pretty much the same for all teams though, Florida had a week less to wait I think

There were 36 days between Florida's SEC title game and Monday's NC game.

The 51 days between OSU/MICH and the NC game was the longest layoff ever between games in a college football season.

And yes, it's completely absurd, though not an excuse for how crrrrapppy OSU played.....

My, how a nice 8-team playoff would improve this whole situation. In addition to assuring that the 2 NC participants are "worthy" contestants through tournament-style elimination, it would also make for a "level playing field" in terms of eliminating unequal layoff durations and giving teams an equal (and shorter) amount of preparation time.

No, they can't do a tournament. It would affect the studies of the players. hock: hock: At least that's what I've heard. :roll: :roll: I wonder how many college football players actually have to attend classes and write exams to pass. I'm all for a tournament. More money for the shools and college football is all about being a big business just like the NFL is. This charade about caring about the well being of academic life is just foolish. A tournament could eliminate the questions about the Boise State for instance.
