Can anyone explain the significance to the song Chagrin Falls.
I lived very close to Chagrin Falls, OH for about 8 years and have been there many times.

My interpretation is that Gord saw it one day while they were touring and loved the wordplay on Chagrin.
Also - I do not know if it was intentional but isn't Chagrin Falls the location of the main offices of Clear Channel?

I saw a clip on the news once that took place in Chagrin Falls. A daredevil did a full body burn, and jumped off the water falls.
Daredevil. Chagrin Falls. What a story.

Chagrin Falls - Song Notes
.....
Chagrin Falls is a wealthy community near Cleveland. The song deals with a wandering spirit and the setting is really effective to emphasis how low you can sink, as low as the Antarctic or Chagrin. Gord Sinclair
Etymology: French, from chagrin sad
Date: circa 1681: disquietude or distress of mind caused by humiliation, disappointment, or failure

I've always liked the line "chagrin fell out of her apron"
It's a dark and dirty song indeed. One of the best from PP.

I love how opinions vary on The Hip.
Chagrin is in my top 20 Hip songs - and maybe my top ten.
