So WC arrived today in the mail and Im listening and have to say this album is great. best thing since Phantom Power. Bob did a great job on this.
Anyway so I get to Fly and its basically just all those ramblings by Gord put into a song. Anyone else pick up on this? Love it!
"Seventy days to cross the ocean
Seventy nights, no one's gonna hear me fall
like Freddy Mercury I sometimes wished i'd never been born at all, that's right"
-Fully Completely 11-27-04 London, ON
"Cause there's no why in gettin' beaten up by
A guy-i-i-i-i-igh
who cries before he fights"
-Locked in the Trunk of a Car 11-27-04 London, ON
Im such a dork :thumb:

something wierd I noticed today while listening to my i-pod. At that London show in 04 Gord also sang a few lines from the Nick Drake song also entitled "Fly" at the end of Ahead by a Century. So they technically played Fly during three songs at that concert even though one of them was the Nick Drake song called Fly. just thought that was kind of ironic, being as 2 of the rants were part of a song also called Fly to be released in the future. Is this relevant to absolutely anything? No, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.
p.s. Fly is an aweosme song, one of my faves from the new album. I think the lines
"Coastline rising out of the ocean
Coastline rises like a pair of glowing thighs
Theres something down deep inside me says,
‘Where ya been all my life."
might be the best lyrics on the entire album. The imagery that comes from those lines are just amazing.

I was @ that London show and definately noticed that Gord's rants make up some of Fly
I think these rants were sometimes super-imposed into different songs, because I also remember similar rants on the DVD, which was from the concert the night before...
if gord is turning his rants into songs, it only means he'll have to come up with new rants

my favourite part is still "Moonbeam Ontari-ari-O"...amazing lyric...and it's funny, because they day before i first listened to the album, i was singing the Onatri-ari-O song on a bus ride from Winnipeg to Kenora...too bad i wasn't Flying eh?

also most 05 gord rants make up family band and kids lyrics. noticably during opening for the stones in sept 05 before grace, too and i think music at work or poets there are many rants with family band lyrics...

Can anyone else see Air Canada using "Fly" in their next commercial? I could definately picture them doing something like that, seeing as Celine Dion doesn't do much for the airline's image...
