My power's back on. HELL YA!!!!!!
3 nights by the fireplace and flooded basement.
Now I can take the sump pump off the generator.
The yard looks like a war zone. Never seen anything like this in my life.
Never want to again.
Looks like a tornado or hurricane came through.

just got power back don't know how i made it to work on friday, no lights on , trees in the road snowing like a mother f**ker, lighting around or transformers blowing up, then to get to work and have only 18 people make there to run a grocery store where the wait for a cup of coffee was over 30minutes , only 4 cashiers and that is not the job they normally do ,

This is crazy for not even mid-October, some parts of Ontario got dumped on bad as well. Hopefully its not a preview of whats to come, we had such a mild winter last year, I was hoping it would become the norm. Not that I mind the cold, that doesnt bother me, but I can do without all the snowstorms, freezing rain, insane wind chills and all that other good stuff winter brings.

It's simply amazing how badly Buffalo got dumped on this early in the season. I'm going to be moving to Silver Creek, NY by the beginning of spring and I've heard that they didnt get touched at all! Mom always manages to find the places where the snow isnt so merciless

I'm not asking for your fucking sympathy. This was an act of nature, not man.
Anyway, nothing can hold Buffalo and the people of Buffalo back. We have the kindest, helpful people in the world. My neignbor came over with a generator, pumped my basement out. Then the sump pump burned out and he installed a new one, at no charge. I never even met the guy before.
Buffalo is the city of GOOD neighbors.
No sympathy needed, not a thing in my basement was damaged, anyway.

Lost power at 9:30 Thursday evening.
Came back on at 1:00 Sunday - just in time for the Bill's game.
Now I kinda wish it came back on at 4:00 AFTER the Bill's game.
I only had about 2 inches of snow Thursday - and it was all gone Friday. Thank god for generators though - my basement would have been a couple feet of water.

lost power thursday night about 11:00...came back on about the same time on Friday. Almost 2 feet of snow and a mountain of tree limbs on my lawn in West Seneca. They call it the city of good neighbors for a reason. Everyone helped everyone else out.

How long do you have to live somewhere before you go over and introduce yourself to your neighbour? I guess tough times bring people together.
I'm in Hamilton (about an hour north-west from Buffalo) and we didn't have a snowflake fall - just lots of rain. I was living in Kingston in '98 for the Ice Storm. The conditions you're describing remind me of how we felt after the storm broke. Images of destructive beauty that will be forever etched in my mind.

The guy lives a block down, I haven't lived there very long and he just got back from Iraq.
The storm was "lake-effect" and only affected a 40 mile radius from Lake Erie eastward.
