Hey guys!
I finally entered the real world with broadband internet connection! I just got a new pc also. I can't figure out how to download torrents from the tracker. When I click on download it seems to only download the info about the show . Sorry for the ignorance here but I want to get things up & running by the 17th. any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

well that's sort of the grey area for me. I downloaded Bittorrent this morning but the only icon i see here is 360share pro. I'm not to sure if that's what i need or not ? I don't know if i mentioned this earlier but I am new to this and really low tech!

Not to worry.

There are many different bitTorrent clients available to use. The 2 most popular are Azureus, and uTorrent, but personally, I've always used bitTornado and never had any problems.

Give bitTornado a try to begin with, as it's a fairly straight forward client.

Here's a link to download the program.

Download the 'stable' version and install. Once you've done that, go to the tracker and click on the .torrent file. It should automatically start up bitTornado, and will ask you where you want to save the files. Choose a location and let it go.

That seems alot better.Thanks alot. I was expecting that from that other program I downloaded this morning. I'm not sure if that was the right program or not. est.time is 37 hours for a dvd. that seems alot longer than I was anticipating. anyway it's working now.

No worries.

37 hours is a long time, but when there are many seeders (people who have 100% of the file), the time speeds up considerably.

One other tip: In order to keep people from only downloading and not uploading, many trackers have an "enforced ratio", meaning you have to upload a specific percentage of what you download, in order to remain a registered user of the site. For those that fall below, their account is generally Banned from the site, along with their IP address to prevent them from signing up again.

I know Chris originally had a 0.40 minimum ratio enforced, but I think he is making changes soon to make it easier for new members to stay above the minimum ratio.

Now this machine does not seem to be doing that. While reading my ratio, it doesn't seem accurate because I started downloading Shows and realized how long it was going to take and cancelled them.I did this for a few shows. So I don't really have any thing to upload.

You may not be uploading for a couple of reasons...(a) you are the only person downloading a show at a given time -- nobody to upload to, or (b) you need to configure your router if you use one.

Also, when a new torrent is added to the tracker, make sure you jump on it asap. You will automatically start uploading while downloading, giving you the opportunity to maintain a good ratio.

Probably because the file extension is .txt.
