Microsofts version of an "iPod" is on the way, anybody going to give this thing a chance? Im currently thinking of upgrading to a new iPod but now that this is coming out I might have to re-think my plans.

Launch day is set for November 14, and the 3-inch screened 30-GB mp3 player will cost $249.99.

Basically the same price as apples 30GB video iPod, but I like how the Zune has wireless capabilities, an FM tuner and a bigger screen, I think it me be worth having a look at, my only concern is the software that will support it, they dont give a whole lot of details. Too bad no one at Microsoft thought to check out the web address availabilty before choosing that name. Someone now stands to make a good chunk of change from the folks in Redmond.

As well, French Quebecers aren't too keen on the name as it is similar to a slang term for male genitalia. (Link)

My iPod is in need of an upgrade, but I think that I'll opt for the new iPod Shuffle. When I got my original iPod I had a lot of opportunites in my day to use it; now the only time is at the gym and the Shuffle is perfect for that.

I had my eye on the new 8GB nano, its a perfect size and very sleek but I see the Zune is the same price and its 30GB and has an FM tuner which is a nice addition, so Im thinking the Zune is the better buy. But I still need to get more info on it first, I really like my iPod and iTunes.

Not sure what way to go yet..

All of these additional features must surely be a huge drain on the battery... otherwise you'd think that Apple would have put them into their devices by now.

Quite possibly, like I said I need to get lots more details on this thing before making a decision, its seems a little to good to be true with all the xtras and the price. I know the new nano's have improved battery life which is good cause I used mine at work everyday.
