No -- album isn't out in the U.S. until '07, so they'll probably be there next year.

Don't you guys get it?

The Hip tried to make themselves accessible to the American market, and we did not embrace them. We're ignorant and arrogant; we're the septic film that coats the inside of the 'World Container'.

Well, don't get your hopes up, as this is only a rumor, but I heard that the "US Tour" being planned will be much like the Fall Tour in Canada. The early rumblings indicate that they will do a similar mulitple-night 4-city jaunt, including the following select stops:

Tuscaloosa, Alabama -- January 27-30
Ottumwa, Iowa -- February 3-6
Tucumcari, New Mexico -- February 12-15
Pocatello, Idaho -- February 22-25

Four nights in Idaho, and none in Halifax, Winnipeg or Edmonton? That would be whack. Four nights in Idaho, and not one in Boston or anything?

Of all the gin joints...doesn't make much sense, but hey, it is a rumour.

I'm pretty sure Horrible started that rumour himself...

Is it even profitable for the Hip to tour the US?

Well then, baby, pack your bags because I know there's nowhere else I'd rather be in February than... Iowa.

I am amazed that they're not hitting the bustling metropolis that is Townsend, Delaware. There are some rabid hip fans in those parts.

Also, touching on KKF's post, I'm sure that it is profitable for the boys to tour the states. They may not rake in tons of cash, but there has to be some sort of profit in it, one would think.

There must be, otherwise they wouldn't spend so much time down there. Sure they're playing smaller venues and such, but they sell out everywhere they go, they travel around in a nice fancy tour bus, and they get paid in American dollars. They also travel with a much smaller road crew in the States, so they don't need to pay as many employees as they do for the big Canadian arena tours. I remember reading an article that mentioned something about the Hip being in the top 10% of bands that tour the U.S. on a regular basis. I'm not sure exactly what that translates to money-wise, but they must be doing ok.
