Rheos Call It Quits

Tragic.
For all intents and purposes, they were the Indie Hip.

A truly sad day for Canadian rock. These guys are quite simply one of the greatest bands this country has ever produced, and certainly the most unique. Whether it was a children's album, an instrumental homage to the Group of 7, a film soundtrack, or a straight-ahead rock record, the Rheos always pulled it off brilliantly and they never strayed from their vision. I was lucky enough to see them live at least a dozen times over the years, and they blew my mind every single time. In my opinion they deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame right alongside the Hip, Young, Lightfoot, Cohen, and Joni. They'll be missed.

Damn, those doods were cool
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I'm wondering if there's one more cross-Canada jaunt before this show. It would certainly save me airfare.
Cheers,
Pat

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were one of the greatest Canadian bands of all time, and they will be missed. Here's to Greatest Hits, Whale Music, Wendel Clark, 2067, and everything in between.
I'm richer for having seen them play before they called it quits.
