Being out west we are stuck with crap bands all trying to sound like Nickelback.
When i used to work in radio out here a certain rock station would run its home grown music contest... most bands would be a Nickelback clone or be as bad as the Armchair Cynics.... but that didn't stop the judges from choosing them to be the best of the best or in my opinion teh best of the worst.
So what i am getting at is Music from BC sucks and that the good bands out here hardly get noticed. It seems like it's a different story out east.
The music coming out of the Maritimes is excellent.
Matt Mays & El Torpedo, The Novaks, The Trews and now i have come across In-Flight Safety. While at times they sound like Coldplay their sound is such a refreshing change from the crap we are producing out here.
I would definitely check them out.

Can anyone out there recommend any other new Maritime rock, roots rock or alt-country bands that are worth checking out?
Radio in Vancouver wont give them the time of day as they are too busy trying to break the next Nickelback.
