I'm a beginner guitar player.

Can anyone recommend a hip track that would be fairly easy to learn (from what I saw the basic structure of Bobcaygeon seemed quite simple, but I may be very wrong).

thanks in advance guys,
Matt

I think the first Hip song I learned to play on the guitar was Wheat Kings. 3 chords. G,C,D.

I suggest going to tabs.hipfans.com and peruse the tabs there just trying little bits of each song. if anything sounds really good, stick with it and try the rest of the song. thats how i started out, just check every tab until it sounds close and/or correct. and then once you have that song down, go to another.
also... Wheat Kings is incredibly simple to play as mentioned by srb.

Hahaha! I think this is the first song I learned to play too. Of course my friends said that every single song I played after that sounded like Wheat Kings too.

Thompson Girl, the acoustic part, is pretty easy.

Three Pistols isn't very hard, and it's fun to play.

Scared, the rhythm part, is also not too hard.

Hey guys... I'm back around and breaking out the guitar... I'm also getting my more talented friends to start learning some Hip songs!

I'd also recommend Fiddler's Green as another easier one...

And the standard tuning version of Ahead By A Century is very simple once you get your head around the variations on the D chord that are necessary... (and you could theoretically skip those, but it would sound a little strange...)

Also, Northern Wind (they played it on Swinging on a Star on CBC in 1992) is a pretty easy one - and really nice. Same with Get Back Again.

Once you get a little better at forming chords quickly, Fireworks is fun to play as well.
