Preparing for the big day...
#1

Hey folks...

How do you "prepare" for a Hip show? Do you listen to them non-stop for a couple days before the show, to get yourself psyched up? Do you ease off on the music, just so you can go into the show "fresh"? Do you listen to bootlegs? Studio CD's?

Definitely Studio CD's...Hipeponymous was a big one before the shows last week for me! I try not to listen to live shows because I find that when I hear a song live in a previous show and then they play it live at the show I am at, I sing some of the "rants" or additional lyrics that Gord added in the other show. It can get kinda confusing so I stick with studio CD's.

I try to stop listening to any CDs or music by the band a week before the show, not just for the hip, but for anybody. Like you said, to keep things "fresh".

The girlfriend thinks I'm nuts. Wink

I've been listening to the Pittsburgh show, non-stop...for me, I always get the "two week jitters" at the appropriate times, and I find myself thinking about the show more and more every moment...my preparing routine simply consists of a lot of dancing...so now I've got the 9 day jitters...

I listen to all the albums as I drive to and from work the week before a concert. I also pull out my Hip scrapbook (yes, I'm a 30 yr. old geek  ) that I made a few years back. Its pretty cool though because I have articles dating back to 1993. Its kinda neat to read them now and see what has/hasn't changed with their music.
