I was thinking about posting this in the hip disscussion forum, but since it's not official, I thought my specualation will go here instead.

The guy that won this contest on 102.1 the edge got a bunch of prizes, one of them being a concert by a band of his choice. We now know that the concert will be open to the public. I've said to friends of mine that if I had won this prize it would be the hip(of course), but I'm getting the feeling that the guy who won is going to choose them as well. During the afternoon, Josie (the afternoon DJ) mentioned that she knew the details of the concert (which will be announced on monday morning) and she said it's probably the biggest band in Canada. That leave the door open for only a select few bands. It think us in Toronto are gonna be getting another Hip concert real soon.........

My guess is Billy Talent.

I don't think Sum 41 are even really together anymore. Deryck's living it up with his fiancee Avril and Dave recently announced he was leaving the band.

Yes - it could quite possibly be Billy Talent. If I am not mistaken they either have a new album out or it is on it's way. That would be a great promotion for them.

*EDIT: So what's the verdict this morning? I listened for a while but they were razzin' Robin Black for the 40 minutes I was in the car...

I heard an ad tonight on my drive home. No news...and no word of when the concert is going to be announced. :?

So I guess our idea of "the biggest band in Canada right now" and the Edge's idea are totally different. "The Show" talked to that Brent guy this morning and he has picked his concert.

Congratulations to Pat (hotmetal401) who correctly guessed Three Days Grace as the winner.

For any of their fans, concert is August 3rd at the Phoenix and the only way to get tickets is to (a) talk to that guy Brent or (b) listen to win them through the Edge.

Interesting though....the guy had to pick a list of bands, and then basically it came down to who was available on August 3rd. He said that Three Days Grace was in the top five of his list.
