No, really.
This isn't a dig, as I don't think my Senators will fare much better without Hasek, but was I ever surprised to see the Leafs dweling in the basement in the paper this morning. I figured the off-season moves would have done them well, apprently not.
What's the mood in Hog Town, are people calling for Quinn's head on talk radio yet?

Yup, the Leafs are really stinkin it up this year. They're too old, too slow, and from the looks of things they have zero team chemistry. If fans in Toronto are calling for Quinn's head, I think they have every right. If that franchise ever wants to win another Stanley Cup (hopefully not in my lifetime) they're gonna need a serious overhaul, starting with the coaching staff.
Speaking of angry hockey fans, here in Calgary people are already calling for Sutter's head, and we're tied for FIRST PLACE in our division. One lousy game against the Canuckleheads, and people start jumping off the bandwagon. It's annoying. The expectations for this team are extremely high this year, which is understandable, but everytime the boys lose a couple in a row, it's amazing how quickly people start hitting the panic button. I'm just as frustrated by Iggy's lousy season as anybody (not to mention our complete lack of offence), but I'm certainly not ready to throw in the towel. Not when we're sitting 3rd in the conference. There's no doubt in my mind that Sutter will make the necessary moves to give us some extra scoring punch, and then we'll be ready to kick some ass come playoff time.

As for the Leafs, if they want to compete they need to unload some of the floaters and older players, but first get rid of Domi, its time for that guy to pack it in and leave town, the new nhl is not for him and he's just a waste of a roster spot imo. Really what good is he anymore, they got Tucker, he's more of a sparkplug than Domi and he actually gets points. I'd trade Belfour and Antropov too. I hear the Caps are ready to deal Witt, T.O should make a move for him and tighten up that D a bit, they are weak in their own end.

I hate to admit it but I gave up on the season on Tuesday night. They are fighting for the last playoff spot, most of the guys just had two weeks off, they are playing a horrible Washington team - in Toronto - and they lose. That's unfuckingacceptable.
The main problem for the Leafs this season - and unfortunately for us Leaf fans it is a HUGE problem - is Belfour. If you watch Leaf broadcasts closely you can see the giant fork sticking out of his back. He's done. And, as everyone knows, you are only as good as your goaltending. With Eddie allowing two softies a night, the Leafs simply aren't good enough to overcome that.
I just wish Quinn would stop being so damn loyal to the guy. He keeps on carting him out there, no matter what. The only regular goalies who have been statistically worse this season are Theodore, Dipietro, and Khabibulin. It is time to put Tellqvist in and play the snot out of to see if he can be the #1 until Pogge and/or Rask are experienced enough.
As for trading this guy and that guy, who on Earth would want Domi? Despite his claims that 12 teams were interested in him in the offseason, I think he was counting 11 ECHL teams. He's a "tough" guy who doesn't fight anymore, so what's his value exactly? The simple fact is that the guys that other teams might covet (Sundin, McCabe, Kaberle, Steen) are the only guys worth keeping. I'm hopeful they can get something in return for Allison (slow or not, he's a point a game guy - direwolf - imagine Allison setting Iggy up 10 times a game - tell me you wouldn't like that), but other than that I simply don't see what the Leafs could get for any of the other garbage on the roster.

I'm off to the Toronto/Buffalo game tomorrow night. I'm just begging that they show up and make a game of it and maybe win one for me. I cant take to many more of these ugly losses. I'm kinda hoping they mix it up and maybe toss Tellqvist in there, Belfour hasnt looked to great. Go LEAFS Go!!

As one of the most loyal Leaf fans on the board I too pretty much packed it in after Tuesday's shit show....it's so disheartening to see a team that could be good self destruct the way that our Leafs have.
And as far as the Leafs being "sellers" this year leading up to the trade deadline, the guys that we do have up on the block aren't exactly going to be commanding much in the way of return value. Belfour might be the only one to bring something in but as far as Antropov, Domi, Allison, Belak, Czerkowski and others go, I don't think we'll have too many suitors knocking on our door. What I would like to see happen is John Ferguson Jr waiving a bunch of these duds, thus clearing cap space and picking up a few quality, CHARACTER, players.
I have heard from a VERY good source that our Leafs have a serious problem with partying waaaaaaay too much...playing fully hungover is not an uncommon occurance with the Buds...this can only be attributed to some leadership issues...now I'm not knocking Sundin and his much malligned lack of leadership because I really don't know how he is in the locker room, BUT I do think bringing in some character guys might shape this team up in time to make a run for the 7th or 8th spot.
Now that I've got that off my chest, I'm off to the liquor store to get a 40 of Jack Daniels in preparation for tonight's debaucle.

As much as I'd like to see the Leafs make the playoffs I don't see it happening. There's no way they can pass anyone in the top 7 (9 points back of Tampa with 24 games left), which leaves them fighting with a lot of teams for the 8 spot.
If I were a Leafs fan I would be I so upset with management. They're in the exact position everyone said they would be at the start of the season, going nowhere with too many old guys that you can't move. As RG pointed out, who is going to come looking for a trade and what can you reasonably get in return? Does anyone really want Belfour for the playoffs? Even if Hasek doesn't come back I'd rather stick with Emery.
Anyway, I hope it's a good game tomorrow. If Toronto play with the desperation they should given their situation it will be one hell of a game. :thumb:

Hey! I'll be there too. I'm going with the missus and two friends. I'll be way up in the nosebleeds, but I'd like Quinn to give Telly some consecutive starts to see what he's made of.
