Whats your point mick? All I see is some people in a parking lot with the Hip, so what. But thanks for reminding me that 4 years ago Canada kicked the US's ass in hockey and won gold, that was a great day. :thumb:

Kicked the US's ass in men's and women's hockey gold, IIRC. Let's not forget the Canadian women's team was the recipient of the first Olympic gold medal in their sport/category.

Actually, didn't the US women's hockey team win the first gold medal for their sport in Nagano in 1998?

I remember that game well... i was so depressed afterwards, but 2002 more than made up for it.

Bugger. I've exposed myself as badly versed in hockey history. Ah well. I swear I'm Canadian! I swear! I was born in Ontario, which is where they manufactured 'Canadian' for ages. Le sigh.
Okay - and this bit is right - the Italians have a program for school kids called "Olympic Education" (only they say it in Italian). The kids get taken to events where they're taught about the sport and the countries of the opposing contestants/teams. After they learn about a country - say Canada - they're given flags and signs for that country and they stay to cheer the game on.
The point of that story? Some of the people cheering Canada on aren't Canadian. They're little Italian school kids. How cool is that?

Yes they are. And, more importantly, they're going on in Turin, Italy.
I don't follow professional sports at all and I manage to keep up a modicum of interest in amateur sports. But, when it comes to Italy, I'm deadly interested.

Well, I think the point had something to do with the whole Canadian nationalism aspect of the Hip phenomenon.
I'd suggest that the photo illustrates that despite the way Downie decries nationalism (see Dame's posts on the paradox of nationalism), he and the band also pander to it.
