We are also very excited to tell you about the development of our first ever paid members-only fan site, aptly named, The Hip Club (THC). This is not to be confused with the now defunct Hip Club that ran back in 2002. THC will be the ultimate place for everything Hip. With the paid membership, you will get front-of-the-line opportunities for concert tickets, special audio and visual content, an online and in-depth Q and A with the band, members-only merchandise, and EXCLUSIVE access to “Hip Club Only” special events, shows and other surprises.

What are everyone's opinions on this? At first it seems like a bit of a money grab (turning something that was previously free into a paid membership by adding a few features). However, at the same time, it would weed out people that aren't as hardcore fans of the band. I'm a little torn. I was never a fan of NIN having a paid membership to their website. But then again, I'm not as hardcore about NIN as I am about the Hip.

I think people are responding quite nicely to the announcement. Read here...

I think people here will be fine with it. I am sure there are many reasons that I overlook behind the need to have a cost involved.

I'm all for it!

i also have no problem paying $$$ for the club - i've been waiting to hear about new hip news for way too long now that I'm just so damn excited there is finally something concrete to look forward to.
this serves me just fine.

i say bring it on - the sooner the better!

I would pay just about anything for front-of-the line opportunities! This is awesome.

whatever happened to the search police

Out gettin' dougnuts apparently hock:

[MountainHip]

Are the search police and tool police related at all? Do they train on the same grounds?

[Drez7]

OK, then who are the Karma Police?

Is this like a relative of the Search Police, maybe a second cousin of the Tool Police?

[sgryzko]

How about the off topic police

[john cage]

How about The Dream Police ... Po-lice ... Po-lice

[lilbones]

I'm not wild about a pay-for-access club. But that's mostly because I'm a student who just quit his job, not any moral objections.

[kelman66]

Who polices the police?

[ceebuler]

I think you mean to say "who cops all the cops is all I ask of you?"
