(This will read like total self-serving name dropping, but it's really cool, so I don't care. Sue me.)
Richard Mahoney, the filthy Liberal here, was joined by Bill Graham to do some canvasing today. Richard is a blues guy, plays guitar, so I asked him about Lou Reed while we walked, stuff he likes to play etc. He then mentions, "Sweet Jane" and says how it's such a great song that everybody has covered it... Velvet Underground are great... blah, blah, blah. I say: "Ever heard The Tragically Hip cover it?" thinking to myself: 'not a chance in hell' ...and not only has the guy heard it... HE'S GOT IT ON HIS iPOD!
Now, IMO, it takes a real fan (either of the Blues or The Hip, I guess) to track down that rarity. And if that wasn't enough, Bill Graham; your 60something-year-old minister of defence: adds "solid band that."
The Fucking Minister Of Defense, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, thinks the Hip are a "solid band."
Call the whole election off... just give these guys the reigns for good.
"I believe Hip fans are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way."
