Would anybody care to explain what the "narrative" section of the profile's is all about? I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

Sure, I'd be happy to explain:

First, as far as the website, I think you will see, I've been making some changes and things are geting laid out a little better and should be more clear. Another few days and I'll have all the layouts done and things should be even clearer, a few programming refinements along the way and I'; be set to launch "Phase I":

The Hip Story Project is what I am calling both the project and the engine that runs and holds all of the data. By data, I mean all files, whether they are images, song lyrics, html pages, links, comments and THSP entries etc.

What I am attempting to do, and I still have a LONG way to go to get the "engine" out with "All" of the components - is to create an historical, cultural, archival database and framework of the music, recordings, video, images and personal experiences and stories surrounding the TTH. Material from the band and material from the fans, collected, archived, searchable , indexed and organised, available to all and a way to enter, oraganise and search it.

This is where the narrative comes in . . . I want people to tell stories of the how's the why's the where's and the when's relating to themselves and their experiences with and surrounding TTH. Personal stories, related to you. Slices of a collective cultural experience. . . . I don't know how else to describe it, other than a collection of personal, narrative history, associated and centred around the music of TTH.

It's not a forum, it's not a place to discuss, it's a place to leave a little slice of who you are. . . anyway, it's a grand vision that will live and/or die by the quality of the content entered and archived. So, I am countin gon you guys to get the ball rolling. Wink:

Anyway, I really hope that we can make it a success and I say this openly, I am countig on you guys to prove me right, to lead the way, to be forward thinking and to participatory, to help create what I think can be and will become, a living, breathing, constantly changing, organic, interactive, cultural, historical archive.

So, the narrative section of the profile, is where you can enter, edit and update your stories and media content. Your portion of the archive, as it were.

Features and capabilities will be added over time, and there will be capabiliteis that I haven't thought of or considered - I just thought of a new one while writing this - suggested by users during normal use, and I will do my best to incorporate as many of these requests as possible.

To say the least, I am pretty excited about the project and i hope you will be and are as well.

MAv, I do not know if you still want "issues" posted her, but...
When I go to my preferences, it shows my prov/state must be entered - I try and enter it but it keeps going back to just the prov/state entry.

Lordy, lordy. It's beautiful. I have a feeling I'll be spending much more time poking around the site than working on final paper, but the Hip are so much more interesting than education. Excellent work! :thumb:
