Avery accused of firing racial shot

Saying it doesn't have any concrete evidence, the NHL doesn't plan any action over an alleged derogatory remark in Tuesday night's NHL game between the Oilers and Kings.
Oilers F Georges Laraque, who is black, alleged he was slurred by Kings F Sean Avery. League disciplinarian Colin Campbell spoke to both clubs yesterday, but was unable to confirm either player's story. Avery was warned by the league last month when he said Denis Gauthier's hit in pre-season on Kings teammate Jeremy Roenick was "typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not back anything up." Avery later apologized.

I think the guy is a dick. He was the one that said there's too many europeans in the league last year.

I am a bit biased regarding Sean Avery, as a girl that I work with is her ex. She is one of the most mature, well-educated young women I have ever met. She has a college degree, is going into law school, and volunteers religiously. Mr. Avery calls her two or three times a week, trying to get back together with her, even though she now has a boyfriend that treats her like gold, and has for over a year. He has answered their phone when he's called, and Avery has threatened him. Besides that, he has come into the restaurant on numerous occasions, while she is busy at work, trying to talk to her. He is truly a nut job. I asked her about this recent racial slur accusation, and she says she is not one bit surprised.

In the past 12 months Sean Avery has said that investors were going to set up a league to rival the NHL, then he said he was brainwashed by Bob Goodenow, then he made his French players and visors comment, and now the racial slur. The guy is clearly not playing with a full deck.

Avery is a punk. I would really like to see him get his ass kicked by anyone on the ice, but it probably won't happen because despite all his talk he never seems to want to back it up. Last night near the end of the Wings vs. Kings game after Detroit scored an empty netter, Avery gave Maltby a shot in the face, and when Maltby retaliated and gave Avery a jab in the face, Avery went down like he had been shot.
I hope Laraque get a hold of Avery next time the Oilers and the Kings play.

Why is it that Avery says this stuff and is rightfully ridiculed, and yet Don Cherry can say or hint at similar things and people love him. Medium and message I guess.
Maybe Toddy Bertz chumps Avery from behind... then we can be done with both of 'em for a season.
